On 30 Jan 11 the L-A Fire Department transported a fifty year old Lowell resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to an overdose on prescription medication. The victim’s ex-husband reported the victim consumed half of a 375 ml bottle of 100 proof grain alcohol and a handful of medication in an attempt to take her own life. The victim was scheduled to undergo further treatment and evaluation (790).

On 30 Jan 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson arrested Jerry W. Fletcher, age 59, 90 Cherry Hill Lane, Belpre, for domestic violence. Mr. Fletcher’s fifteen year old custodial granddaughter reported the previous evening that she arrived home after her curfew due to the fact that her boyfriend experienced car trouble. The victim said her grandfather would not accept her excuse and hit her twice with his belt. Mr. Fletcher exited the room so the teenager said she walked outside to calm down. The victim said Mr. Fletcher chased after her, tackled her onto gravel, stepped on her hand and kicked her in the ribs. Questioned about the victim’s injuries, Mr. Fletcher claimed they were caused when his granddaughter fell when she attempted to run away.

On 30 Jan 11 Deputy Sheriff Deem responded to the scene of death of a sixty-five year old Cutler resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 30 Jan 11 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued citations to Lawrence R. Reischman, age 44, 711 O’Neal Street, Belpre, and Kenneth J. Rexroad, age 53, Route 3 Box 56, Elizabeth, WV, for not wearing seat belts. Deputy Smeeks originally stopped Mr. Reischman for speeding on State Route 7 near Veto Road in Warren Township.

On 30 Jan 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr responded to the scene of death of a fifty-one year old Marietta resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 30 Jan 11 Matthew S. Feathers, age 27, 635 Fourth Street, Marietta, reported he has small children and had no way to secure his weapons so he contacted a friend to store several long guns owned by his father and himself. Mr. Feathers said he and his father attempted to retrieve the guns but the friend had since moved from his residence and would not answer phone calls. The missing weapons are .30, .356 and .35 caliber rifles and twelve and sixteen gauge shotguns. Mr. Feathers estimates the guns are worth a total of $2,525. This case remains under investigation (610).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Timothy Matthew Ryan, age 20, 600 Main Street, Waterford, for a felony charge of domestic violence and for a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms of his probation. Ryan was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Deem and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Jan 11 at 12:18 am.

Jerry Wayne Fletcher, age 59, 90 Cherry Hill Lane, Belpre, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Fletcher was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Jan 11 at 5:43 pm.
