On 22 Jan 11 Deputy Sheriff Schubert responded to a fire at the residence of Ursula E. McKeefer, age 68, at 701 Fourth Street, New Matamoras. Extinguished by fire departments from Grandview Township, Sardis and Newport, the fire caused significant damage to the home. Initial findings indicate are that the fire was caused by an electric heater plugged in on the second floor of the residence. No injuries were reported.

On 22 Jan 11 a seventeen year old Parkersburg resident reported she was assaulted while exchanging custody of her son at her former boyfriend’s residence in Newport. The victim claimed her ex-boyfriend’s sister grabbed her hooded sweatshirt, shoved her and threatened her while she held her son in his car seat. The suspect and her mother contradicted the victim’s statement, saying she was confrontational during the exchange. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 22 Jan 11 the owner of the Lawnsdale, 2355 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre, reported at 3:25 am on 21 Jan three suspects pried open a door and gain entry into the business. Once inside, the owner stated the suspects stole fourteen bottles of liquor. This case remains under investigation (1293).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jeremy McClure Wittekind, age 32, 420 Colegate Drive, Marietta, for OVI, for operating a vehicle without a license and for failure to yield, all misdemeanors. Wittekind was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 11 at 2:15 am.

Ronald Bruce Sheridan, age 39, 306 Putnam Avenue, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Sheridan was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Saho of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 11 at 8:55 pm.
