On 4 Jan 11 a Little Hocking resident reported her fourteen year old son was on the second story roof of their residence and threatening to jump. Later questioned by Sgt. Thorpe, the juvenile stated multiple times that he wanted to injure himself. The teenager commented that he would do whatever he had to do to avoid living with his parents. After her son calmed, the teenager’s mother transported him to Camden Clark Hospital for a mental evaluation.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE HELICOPTERS TRANSFERRED TO MARION COUNTY

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks announced today that all components of the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit have been transferred to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Marion, OH, just north of Columbus. This arrangement was made after the Federal Law Enforcement Support Office in Battle Creek, MI denied the Sheriff’s Office’s request to sell the two aircraft. The two aircraft were transferred to the Sheriff’s Office in 1995 from the US Army.

This agreement was reached with assistance from Representatives from the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association, Department of Homeland Security, Federal and State Law Enforcement Support Offices and the Washington and Marion County Sheriff’s Offices. The costs of major upgrading and repairs will be assumed by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in association with anticipated grants from Homeland Security, supported by the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association. Their central location in Marion County will provide access to Sheriff’s Offices and other requesting agencies in the entire state.
