On 8 Dec 10 Dawn Vaughn, age 37, 450 Rummer Road, Marietta, reported she was assaulted during a heated argument with her live-in boyfriend Martin D. Welch Jr., age 39. Arguing over issues involving money and children, Ms. Vaughn said Mr. Welch punched her in the face. The blow caused Ms. Vaughn’s nose to bleed and resulted in swelling around her left eye. Mr. Welch fled prior to the arrival of Deputy Sheriff Lockhart but later located and arrested for domestic violence.

On 8 Dec 10 Melinda Tyler, age 25, 12995 State Route 676, Waterford, reported in addition to spitting on her, her husband Jason, age 25, threw water on her and threw a plastic tote at her that struck her in the lip. Mrs. Tyler stated she was arguing with her husband over their children’s bedrooms when the incident began. Mrs. Tyler also commented that her husband threatened to hit her and caused her to fear for her safety. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Deem, Mr. Tyler said he thought it was better to throw water on his wife than to hit her. Based on her investigation, Deputy Deem arrested Mr. Tyler for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

John J. Smith, age 28, 1953 Denune Avenue Apt. D, Columbus, for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on 2 Dec 10.

Charles E. Carter, age 48, 1737 Hickory Lane, Columbus, for failing to appear for pretrial on 3 Dec 10.

James M. Fox, age 30, Route 9 Box 459, Marietta, for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for arraignment on 29 Nov 10.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Martin Dean Welch Jr., age 39, 450 Rummer Road, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Welch was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 7:00 am.

Melinda Ann Ruppen, age 25, 2261 Harrisburg Pike, Grove City, OH, for breach of recognizance and for two counts of failure to appear, all misdemeanors. Ruppen was picked up in Franklin County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 3:25 pm.

Edward Eugene Craft Jr., age 51, 823 Desler Avenue, Columbus, for contempt for failing to pay fines. Craft was picked up in Licking County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 3:30 pm.

Jason Jeremiah Ray Tyler, age 25, 12995 State Route 676, Waterford, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Tyler was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Deem and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 7:25 pm.

Brian Lee Miller, age 45, 211 Maple Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Miller was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 9:35 pm.

Dewaine William Mayle, age 23, PO Box 3018, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, following another vehicle too closely and for failure to appear, all misdemeanors. Mayle was arrested near milepost eight on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Dec 10 at 11:05 pm.
