On 6 Dec 10 Deputy Sheriff Deem responded to the scene of death of a seventy-two year old Cutler resident. The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

.On 6 Dec 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio requested a summons for Ashley Chipps, age 30, 6185 E. State Route 60, Beverly, for four counts of theft. A former employee at TATA Business Support Services, Ms. Chipps obtained the username and password of a supervisor and used the information to send hotel coupon vouchers to family members and friends. Ms. Chipps admitted accessing the secure web system and sending the four vouchers between June and October 2010. The four vouchers accounted for a loss to the company in the amount of $425.60.

On 6 Dec 10 an employee of Guernsey Scrap, 28087 State Route 7, Marietta, reported the locked padlocks were removed from two storage trailers at the business. Viewing surveillance footage, the employee stated on 3 Dec two suspects removed three copper radiators and approximately eight pounds of sheet copper from one of the trailers. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 6 Dec 10 Chrystal Rowland, age 61, 202 Virginia Street, Beverly, reported her daughter Mary Glass, age 26, was involved in a dispute with Mary’s step-father, Donnie Hopper, age 63. Ms. Rowland said Ms. Glass and Mr. Hopper were arguing over silverware when Ms. Glass retrieved a kitchen knife and charged toward Mr. Hopper. Stepping between the two, Ms. Rowland stated Mr. Hopper shoved both of them in self-defense. Ms. Glass then retrieved a handgun and threatened to shoot Mr. Hopper. The fracas ended shortly thereafter without further incident. Questioned about the altercation, Ms. Glass claimed she also acted in self-defense and alleged she was punched and kicked by Mr. Hopper. For her role, Ms. Glass was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail. Deputy Sheriff Caltrider forwarded this case to the Law Director to determine if additional charges are warranted.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Dwight Keith Masters Jr., age 42, 114 Oak Grove Lane, Marietta, for nonsupport of dependants, a felony. Masters turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff Tornes and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 10 at 8:58 am.

Garry W. Vanmeter III, age 33, 2174 East Avenue, Akron, for contempt for failing to pay fines, a misdemeanor. Vanmeter was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Tornes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 10 at 10:38 am.

Keith Allen Huff, age 27, 304 Fifth Street, Lowell, for aggravated menacing and telephone harassment, both misdemeanors. Huff was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 10 at 12:30 pm.

Charles Clinton Carpenter, age 26, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, driving under suspension, hit-skip-, speeding and possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors. Carpenter turned himself in to Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 10 at 2:30 pm.
