On 1 Dec 10 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested summonses for Joshua E. Belin, age 21, and Jennifer Runnion, age 21, both of 1007 Third Street, Marietta, for littering. Late the previous evening a motorist reported observing a large amount of trash in an area where he saw a parked pickup truck pull back onto County Nine Road in Newport Township. Identified by the license plate number obtained by the motorist, Mr. Belin said he recently moved to his residence and his landlord gave him permission to dispose of old carpet, bags of trash and plastics buckets. Mr. Belin stated he needed to get rid of the items and decided to drive several miles outside of town to unload the refuse along the roadway.

On 1 Dec 10 Lindsay Martin, age 20, 606 Salster Road, Fleming, reported she was driving in a vehicle along with her fiancé and live-in boyfriend Travis A. Lester, age 24, when Mr. Lester assaulted her. As she drove in the vicinity of State Route 7 and Ayers Boulevard, Ms. Martin said Mr. Lester threatened her, pulled her hair and punched her in the head. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart, Mr. Lester minimized his actions, stating he pushed Ms. Martin’s face away because she was yelling at him. Observing a small knot on Ms. Martin’s head that indicates she was struck, Deputy Lockhart arrested Mr. Lester for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 1 Dec 10 Deputy Sheriff Holbert requested a summons for a seventeen year old Marietta resident to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by possession of drug paraphernalia. The assistant principal at Warren High School caught the teenager and two other students smoking in the teenager’s truck that afternoon and conducted a search of the vehicle. The search yielded two marijuana pipes, one of which the teenager stated belonged to him and the other to one of his friends.

On 1 Dec 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio investigated a report that a group of suspects stole property from outside the residence of Larry Schmidt, age 46, at 855 Browns Road, Marietta. Conducting a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, Deputy Travaglio observed two air conditioners in the bed of the truck. When questioned the suspects, Jimmy L. McGary Jr., age 29, Ryn L. McGary, age 19, and David F. Myers, age 28, all of 100 4 ½ Street, Williamstown, stated they were driving around in search of junk when they stopped at the residence on Browns Road. The suspects said they knocked on the door to ask for permission to take the air conditioners but there was no answer. Along with the two air conditioners, Mr. Myers said he stole a car battery he noticed sitting in a carport. Consequently, Deputy Travaglio arrested the trio for theft. At the time of their arrest, Jimmy and Ryn McGary were in possession of small bags of marijuana. As a result, they were additionally charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jimmy Lee McGary Jr., age 29, 100 4 ½ Street, Williamstown, for complicity in committing theft, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
