On 22 Nov 10 John S. Bush, age 35, 60 Dye Street,
Newport, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) entered
an unoccupied residence his mother owns at 34210 State Route
7, Newport. Stolen from the residence were a flat panel television
and a reciprocating saw with two batteries and a charger. Mr.
Bush estimates the total loss is over $1,000. This case remains
under investigation (805).
On 22 Nov 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
minor misdemeanor citation to Aaron J. Smith, age 28, 479 Four
Mile Creek Road, Coolville, for possession of marijuana. A passenger
in a vehicle stopped as part of an assault investigation, Mr.
Smith was found in possession of a small bag of marijuana. Upon
interviewing the involved parties, Deputy Smeeks concluded the
assault report was unfounded. Mr. Smith was subsequently arrested
on an outstanding warrant and transported to the Washington
On 22 Nov 10 Sgt. Hornbeck charged Donald R.
Gregor Jr., age 38, 210 Vine Street, Marietta, with resisting
arrest and possession of drugs. Mr. Gregor would not initially
identify himself when asked to do so by Sgt. Hornbeck as he
attempted to serve a warrant on him for failing to pay child
support. As Sgt. Hornbeck attempted to handcuff Mr. Gregor,
he had to forcibly remove him from a chair, as he refused to
stand. Mr. Gregor continued to be uncooperative and was eventually
escorted to Sgt. Hornbeck’s cruiser. While being processed
into the jail Mr. Gregor was found in possession of six pills
that were identified as the generic form of Xanax.
On 22 Nov 10 Sgt. Hornbeck requested summons
for two counts of theft each for Andrew D. Britton, age 23,
200 Mile Run Road, Marietta; Pebble M. Longfellow, age 25, 1406
Gihon Road, Parkersburg; and Jacob K. Rowe, age 19, 127 Ohio
Boulevard, Marietta. The three suspects allegedly received permission
from the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley to take an eleven
month old boxer for a walk on 19 Oct and fled with the dog’s
leash and did not pay the dog’s $110 adoption fee. Identified
during a subsequent investigation, all three suspects admitted
it was their intent to take the dog without paying for it. Sgt.
Hornbeck recovered the dog and leash from Ms. Longfellow’s
residence and returned them to the Humane Society.
On 22 Nov 10 Sgt. Hornbeck requested summonses
for James W. Radabaugh, age 24, and Jeanelle D. Purdy, age 22,
both of 112 Maple Street Apt. 1, Marietta, for theft. The two
suspects were identified during an investigation on Facebook
initiated by Humane Society of the Ohio Valley employees after
a male boxer was stolen from the organization on 1 Oct. When
Mr. Radabaugh returned the dog on 1 Nov, Humane Society employees
further identified Mr. Radabaugh’s minivan as the vehicle
the suspects drove when the dog was stolen.
On 22 Nov 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to Trey D. Wharton, age 24, 115 N. Hart Street Apt.
5, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with a license plate that
expired in April 2010. Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Wharton
on Pike Street near Seventh Street in Marietta.
On 22 Nov 10 Stephen G. Cottrell, age 46, 1045
Ridgewood Boulevard, Belpre, reported sometime between 4 pm
on 19 Nov and 10 am on 21 Nov an unknown suspect(s) stole a
1994 Suzuki dirt bike from his driveway. Mr. Cottrell said he
bought the motorcycle for $1,300 three years ago and was modifying
it but the motorcycle was in running condition. This case remains
under investigation (1293).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Donald Richard Gregor Jr., age 38, 210 Vine
Street, Marietta, for failure to appear, resisting arrest, possession
of drugs and for contempt of a court order, all misdemeanors.
Gregor was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hornbeck of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 10 at 12:35 am.
Aaron Joe Smith, age 28, 479 Four Mile Creek
Road, Coolville, for possession of drugs, possession of drug
paraphernalia and for contempt for failing to pay fines, all
misdemeanors. Smith was arrested on State Route 555 by Deputy
Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 22 Nov 10 at 11:15 am.
