On 27 Oct 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins assisted
on a traffic stop near the intersection of State Route 555 and
Clark Road in Wesley Township. During the stop Deputy Mankins
noticed an open can of beer between the legs of the passenger,
Christopher N. Mayle, age 31, 672 Hill Road, Cutler. Admitting
he consumed the beer while in the vehicle, Mr. Mayle was arrested
for consuming alcohol in a vehicle and transported to the Washington
County Jail. Deputy Mankins issued a citation to the driver,
Susan R. Harvey, age 36, 421 Clark Road, Cutler, for driving
under a license suspended for having unpaid child support and
released her from the scene.
On 27 Oct 10 Deputy Sheriff Deem responded
to the scene of death of an eighty-three year old Marietta resident.
The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no
foul play is suspected.
On 27 Oct 10 an employee of Pioneer Pipe reported
sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) stole tools from a
tool shed belonging to the business at 2036 Blue Knob Road,
Marietta. The loss is estimated between $3,000 and $4,000 and
includes numerous saws, drills, grinders and other various tools.
This case remains under investigation (200).
On 27 Oct 10 Lt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriffs
Carr and Smeeks recovered property they believe was stolen from
various locations in Devola. Conducting a traffic stop on the
driver of a suspicious vehicle, the Deputies determined the
driver and two accomplices stole property from unlocked vehicles
on Chamberlain Drive, Michigan Avenue and other streets in between.
Deputy Carr is attempting to locate the owners of the recovered
property and requests residents in the area to take inventory
of belongings in their vehicles and to report any missing property

On 27 Oct 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
citation to Errich S. Schmidt, age 21, 20 Wittekind Road, Marietta,
for driving under a suspended license. Deputy Smeeks stopped
Mr. Schmidt on Wittekind Road in Warren Township.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Keith Allen Crace, age 40, 1722 Turkey Hollow
Road, Cutler, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Crace was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 10 at
Dewaine William Mayle, age 23, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Mayle was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 10 at 2:07 pm.
Christopher Neil Mayle, age 31, 672 Hill Road,
Cutler, for consuming alcohol in a vehicle, a misdemeanor. Mayle
was arrested on Clark Road by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 10 at 8:55 pm.
