On 20 Oct 10 Deputy Sheriff Holbert requested
warrants for two seventeen year old Marietta residents for delinquency
by escape. An employee at the Washington County Juvenile Center
reported the teenagers fled the facility around 10:15 that evening
and were not located in the surrounding area. The mother of
one of the juveniles stated her son appeared at her home but
ran when she said she was calling the police. Their current
whereabouts are unknown.
On 20 Oct 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks responded
to the scene of death of a sixty-four year old Waterford resident.
The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes;
no foul play is suspected.
On 20 Oct 10 Helen Francis, age 53, 205 Trestle
Hills Road, Marietta, reported an intoxicated male appeared
at her residence looking for her sister. Ms. Francis said she
barely knows the suspect, Donald W. Carpenter Jr., age 49, 2180
Hanna Road, Marietta, and did not want him at her residence.
Dispatched to the scene, Deputy Sheriff Lockhart attempted to
arrange for a friend of Mr. Carpenter to give him a ride. Unsuccessful
after repeated attempts, Deputy Lockhart arrested Mr. Carpenter
for disorderly conduct by intoxication. At the Washington County
Jail Mr. Carpenter tested .177 BAC.
On 20 Oct 10 Victor Whitacre, age 86, 401 Second
Street, Beverly, reported he recently noticed a number of his
collectible coins were missing. Mr. Whitacre said he last saw
the coins approximately two months ago and he estimates they
are worth $2,000. Sgt. Norman forwarded this case to the Beverly
Police Department for further investigation.
On 20 Oct 10 Harold Smith, age 46, 2950 State
Route 821, Marietta, reported he found what appeared to a bomb
on his property. Located near the ramp for exit six on Interstate
77, Sgt. Norman identified the suspected bomb as a 40 mm round
for a grenade launcher. The grenade had blue coloring on the
tip, indicating the round was likely inert and used by military
personnel for practice. Sgt. Norman took possession of the item
and arranged to have it destroyed.

Bryan L. Eddy, age 19, 3053 Archers Fork Road,
New Matamoras, for aggravated trespassing and menacing committed
on 23 Sep 10.
Shanna L. Jewell, age 32, 200 Brittigan Circle,
Marietta, for failing to appear for pretrial on 18 Oct 10.
Kirk A. Mason, age 22, 704 Elm Street Apt.
1, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation by obtaining
new charges of driving under a suspended license, obstructing
justice, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Natosha N. Patterson, age 20, 2009 16th Street,
Parkersburg, for failing to pay fines and court costs in full.
Jessica L. Stevens, age 29, Marietta, for failing
to appear in court for sentencing on 13 Oct 10.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Brenda Leann Miller, age 42, 1001 Colonial
Terrace Apt. B4, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court
ordered hearing on unpaid fines, for driving under a suspended
license and for driving left of center, all misdemeanors. Miller
was arrested on Hart Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Oct 10 at
Dustin Blake Lolley, age 24, 60 Heeter Road
Apt. B, Newport, for automobile theft and for contempt of a
court order, both misdemeanors. Lolley turned himself in at
Marietta Municipal Court and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 Oct 10 at 9:16 am.
Donald W. Carpenter Jr., age 49, 2180 Hanna
Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Carpenter was arrested on Trestle Road in Marietta by Deputy
Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 20 Oct 10 at 4:40 pm.
