On 15 Oct 10 Linda Gray, age 57, 1125 Bells Run Road, Newport, reported her son in law resides with her and when he arrived home from work that morning he noticed pry marks on the rear and side doors of their residence. It does not appear that the suspect(s) gained entry and Ms. Grey stated nothing appears to be missing from inside the home. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 15 Oct 10 Eric Drake, age 42, 1225 County House Lane, Marietta, reported he is remodeling a vacant residence he owns at 3820 Bells Run Road, Newport, and at some point during the past four days an unknown suspect(s) kicked in the front door. Mr. Drake said none of the tools in the home were taken but a Remington shotgun was taken from one of the bedrooms. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 15 Oct 10 Christopher Doak, age 41, 785 Swift Road, Waterford, reported for the second time this month an unknown suspect(s) entered his home while he was working out of town. Taking inventory of his belongings, Mr. Doak determined a hammer, a roll of wire, a soldering set, a saw, pipe fittings, miscellaneous DVDs, a pair of deer antlers and a box containing five types of ammunition were missing. This case remains under investigation (1209).

SEARCH WARRANT RESULTS IN SEIZURE OF 26 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

A search warrant executed by Task Force Agents last night at 22883 State Route 339, Beverly, resulted in the discovery of approximately twenty-six pounds of marijuana, a semi-automatic handgun and $4,250 in cash. In addition to the large quantity of marijuana, which was hanging and being dried in a barn on the property, Agents confiscated bags of marijuana that appeared to be packaged for sale. Under questioning, the property’s resident, Randy L. Montgomery, age 38, admitted the marijuana found at various locations on his property belonged to him. The estimated street value of the marijuana is $52,000. Montgomery was arrested for third degree felony charges of cultivation of marijuana and being in possession of a weapon while under disability. He is currently being held without bond in the Washington County Jail pending his initial court appearance this afternoon.

In the mid-1990’s Montgomery was sentenced to a term in Ohio state prison after he was convicted on charges relating to a kidnapping, abduction and bank robbery in Waterford on 9 Oct 93. During that incident Montgomery entered the home of the vice president of Waterford Commercial and Savings Bank, bound the man’s family members with duct tape and threatened them with a sawed off shotgun. Montgomery forced the victim to access the bank’s vault, from which he removed approximately $23,000. Montgomery fled but was later arrested in Germany where he had previously served in the military.

The following individual wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:

Randy Lynn Montgomery, age 38, 22883 State Route 339, Beverly, for cultivation of marijuana and for possessing a weapon while being under disability, both felonies. Montgomery was arrested at his residence by Detective Huffman of the Major Crimes Task Force and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Oct 10 at 12:49 am.
