On 28 Sep 10 a fifty-nine year old Marietta resident reported he received a threatening message on his answering machine. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 28 Sep 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks investigated a case of child abuse reported by a caseworker with Children’s Services. The investigation revealed the alleged abuse was an instance of a father disciplining his eleven year old son for his behavior. The boy’s father, who does not have custody of his son, agreed to not administer corporal punishment in the future.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

John Michael Heiss, age 43, 965 Lang Farm Road, Marietta, for nonsupport of dependants, a felony. Heiss turned himself in at the courthouse to Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Sep 10 at 10:48 am.

Melissa Christine Degori, age 33, 120 Eldorado Drive, Marietta, for theft, receiving stolen property and for three counts of forgery, all felonies. Degori was picked up at the Maryland Division of Corrections by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Sep 10 at 6:15 pm.
