On 29 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested Ronald E. Lightfritz, age 21, 410 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for operating a vehicle with fictitious plates. Deputy Mankins located Mr. Lightfritz and his disabled vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business on Joe Skinner Road in Dunham Township.

On 29 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Carr began an investigation into mayhem that occurred in New Matamoras the previous evening. Vandals broke car windows, windows of homes and businesses and punctured vehicle tires on Front Street, Park Avenue, Third Street, Second Street and Main Street. Deputy Carr requests anyone with information pertaining these crimes to contact him at 740-376-7070.

On 29 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Wood C. Swift Jr., age 81, 1252 Stonington Court, Lancaster, OH, for operating a vehicle with a registration that expired in December 2009. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Swift on US 50 near Arrowhead Road in Belpre Township.

On 29 Aug 10 a Suzuki sedan owned by Mandy Biehl, age 33, fell from a set of jacks on her property at 540 Rummer Road, Marietta. The unoccupied vehicle coasted forward down a steep hill, sideswiped the outside of the residence and came to rest approximately thirty-five yards later after striking a fallen tree. No injuries were reported during the crash that caused moderate damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the home (610).

On 29 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Barbara K.
Layman, age 66, 435 Tabor Ridge Road, Stockport, for towing a trailer without a license plate. Deputy Mankins stopped Ms. Layman on State Route 7 near Lockhart Street in Belpre Township.

On 29 Aug 10 Gregory J. Sutton, age 63, 1015 E. King Street, Lancaster, OH, reported at some point during the past week an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence he owns at 8089 Muskingum River Road, Lowell, damaged a newly stained floor and stole a table saw, copper fittings, a bucket of tools, two fishing poles and a large box of fishing lures. This case remains under investigation (1209).

On 29 Aug 10 Dean Mugrage, age 46, 220 Third Street, Marietta, reported sometime between early May and late August an unknown suspect stole two eight foot aluminum I-beams from a storage building he owns at 521 AE Miller Road, Marietta. This case remains under investigation (790).

On 29 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Deem responded to the scene of death of a fifty-seven year old Lower Salem resident. The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Ronald Earl Lightfritz, age 21, 410 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for operating a vehicle with fictitious plates, both misdemeanors. Lightfritz was arrested on Joe Skinner Road by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Aug 10 at 10:00 pm.

Clay Vincent Thorne, age 44, 771 Dents Run Road, Granville, WV, for possession of drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor. Thorne was arrested on Colegate Drive by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Aug 10 at 10:00 pm.
