On 7 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio responded to a possible domestic dispute at the home of Paula Westfall, age 44, 6487 State Route 821, Whipple. Deputy Travaglio determined no act of domestic violence occurred and that a minor injury to Ms. Westfall’s head was inadvertently caused when her live-in boyfriend opened a kitchen cabinet. As a result, Deputy Travaglio closed this case as unfounded.

On 7 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Reeder issued a minor misdemeanor citation to Nathaniel A. Thompson, age 18, 729 Sixth Street, Marietta, for possession of marijuana. Deputy Reeder observed Mr. Thompson and another individual acting suspiciously and noticed they quickly entered a nearby vehicle. Asked about the odor of marijuana inside his vehicle, Mr. Thompson said he and a friend were smoking a blunt when they noticed a patrol car. In addition to a partially smoked marijuana joint, Mr. Thompson produced a small bag of marijuana from inside his vehicle.

On 7 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio responded to the scene of death of a sixty-seven year old Marietta resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 7 Aug 10 the Little Hocking Fire Department responded to a fire at the residence of Rick Vernick, age 66, at 211 North Bruce Street, Little Hocking. The small fire appears to have originated in a computer tower at the residence. The damage to the residence is estimated at $5,000.

On 7 Aug 10 the Reno Fire Department transported Joanna L. Brooks, age 27, 29800 State Route 7, Marietta, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to an injury to her left hand. Ms. Brooks said she injured herself when she punched a wall during an argument over the phone with her boyfriend (805).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Chadrick Arnold Parsons, age 36, Meadowbrook Acres Lot 67, Parkersburg, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Parsons was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Kirby of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Aug 10 at 2:33 am.

Shawn Anthony Gill, age 30, 104 ½ Washington Street, Marietta, for criminal trespassing and for possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Gill was arrested at Buckeye Park by Patrolman McClelland of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Aug 10 at 3:43 am.

Helena Denise Riggs, age 36, 1455 East Branch Road, Lowell, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for operating a vehicle with expired registration, both misdemeanors. Riggs turned herself in to Corrections Officer Arnold and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Aug 10 at 9:39 am.
