On 2 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near Gravel Bank Road and State Route 7. Locating the suspects, Deputy Smeeks checked them for active warrants and sent them on their way. Shortly thereafter Deputy Smeeks noticed six aluminum vehicle air conditioners and two aluminum wheels concealed near the roadway where he contacted the two suspects. An employee of Hilltop Auto Wrecking, 975 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, later identified the vehicle parts as belonging to the business. Questioned at his residence about the items, Logan W. Grimm, age 22, 11730 Veto Road, Marietta, stated he, along with Tyler J. McMahan, age 18, 2003 Barth Road, Belpre, entered the property of Hilltop Auto intending to steal aluminum items. Also interviewed at Mr. Grimm’s residence, Mr. McMahan corroborated his coconspirator’s statement. As a result, Deputy Smeeks arrested Mr. Grimm and Mr. McMahan for breaking and entering and transported them to the Washington County Jail.

On 2 Aug 10 Richard E. Baker, age 81, 240 Mile Run Road, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) removed the front and rear license plates, Ohio tag number EL63YC, from his Chevy S-10. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 2 Aug 10 Dennis M. Harrington, age 55, 4036 Canyon Road, Granville, OH, reported at some point during the past two weeks a motorless aluminum V-boat was stolen from his river lot at 7001 Muskingum River Road, Lowell. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 2 Aug 10 one of the owners of Marietta Polaris, 27425 State Route 7, Marietta, reported a now former employee took a small ATV home to test around the end of May and he allegedly departed this area without returning it. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 2 Aug 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a citation to Allen E. Winer, age 32, 341 Tadpole Run Road, Belpre, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Winer on State Route 7 near Veto Road after he observed cans and other debris flying out of the bed of Mr. Winer’s truck and onto the roadway.

On 2 Aug 10 an employee of Washington Electric Cooperative, 406 Colegate Drive, Marietta, reported an unknown suspect(s) tampered with an electric meter at a residence on Muskingum River Road in Lowell and stole an unknown amount of electricity. This case remains under investigation (1104).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Zackery Cody Kiser, age 18, 9729 North Ridge Road West, Geneva, OH, for OVI and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Kiser was arrested near milepost nineteen on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 10 at 2:15 am.

Logan Wesley Grimm, age 22, 11730 Veto Road, Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Grimm was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 10 at 10:40 am.

Tyler Joseph McMahan, age 18, 2003 Barth Road, Belpre, for breaking and entering, a felony. McMahan was arrested at 11730 Veto Road by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 10 at 10:52 am.

Christopher Brian Arnett, age 28, 63399 Arrowhead Road, Cambridge, for disorderly conduct by intoxication and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Arnett was arrested at 300 Alderman Street by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 10 at 6:11 pm.
