On 22 Jul 10 an employee of the Duke and Duchess, 100 Main Street, Lowell, reported an individual pumped $33 of gasoline but was unable to pay for the gasoline when his debit card was declined. The suspect left id identification with the clerk and was to return after visiting his bank but had yet to return over six hours later. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 22 Jul 10 Michael Duff, age 32, 75 Goss Fork Road, Whipple, reported he tends to a family farm at 870 Fifteenmile Creek Road, Marietta, and sometime overnight it appears an unknown suspect(s) entered buildings on the property. Mr. Duff said the only items he believes are missing are a five gallon bucket of oil and a gallon jug of hydraulic oil. This case remains under investigation (610).

On 22 Jul 10 the Oak Grove EMS transported a nineteen month old Lowell resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to burns suffered from scalding water. The toddler’s parents stated their son was out of their sight for less than a minute when they heard him cry and found him in the bathroom sink with water running over his feet. The attending physician said the child is scheduled to be transported to Children’s Hospital for further treatment. Deputy Sheriff Rhodes concluded this incident was accidental.

On 22 Jul 10 Richard E. Baker, age 81, 240 Mile Run Road, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) flattened a tire and spray painted several areas of his Chevy S-10. This case remains under investigation (200).

On 22 Jul 10 Deputy Sheriff Simmons requested summonses for Ray M. Danner, age 48, 4650 Sandhill Road, Marietta, for handling a weapon while intoxicated and for disorderly conduct by intoxication and for James N. Carte, age 30, 106 Riley Drive Apt. 5, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication. The two suspects were involved in a minor scuffle at Danner’s residence on 17 Jul and at one point Danner produced a handgun. Mr. Danner commented about shooting Mr. Carte but Mr. Carte said at no point during the incident did he fear for his safety.

On 22 Jul 10 Robert R. Haney, age 58, 33 Glenna Street, Belpre, was backing his 2008 Honda Accord from a parking stall at 121 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, when he struck the front passenger side fender of a 1991 Acura Integra being driven by Shawn D. Jones, age 33, 45339 Pomeroy Pike, Racine, OH. While Mr. Haney’s vehicle sustained moderate damage, Mr. Jones’ vehicle was heavily damaged. No injuries were reported (608).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Edward Albert Minke, age 43, 3790 Bells Run Road, Newport, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Minke turned himself in to Detective Staats at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jul 10 at 9:49 am.

Jessica Dawn Drake, age 22, 1014 ½ Hadley Lane, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a felony. Drake was arrested at the Adult Probation Office by Sgt. Spencer of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jul 10 at 10:29 am.
