On 5 Jul 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Lawrence J. Schmucker, age 70, 2829 Rosewood NW, Canton, OH, for driving left of center and for operating a vehicle with registration that expired in October 2009. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Schmucker on State Route 821 near Arends Ridge Road in Muskingum Township.

On 5 Jul 10 Natalynna N. Patterson, age 30, 613 Tupper Street, Marietta, reported her son’s Gameboy Advance was stolen from her purse approximately three weeks ago and she recently discovered the device was sold for cash at Game Stop. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 5 Jul 10 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued a citation to Dwayne E. Miller, age 45, 45 Millers Lane, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in January 2010. Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Miller on State Route 7 near Products Lane in Marietta Township.

On 5 Jul 10 Deputy Sheriff Simmons was on patrol on Chamberlain Drive in Devola when he stopped to speak to two individuals standing along the roadway. The two subjects gave chase but Deputy Simmons followed them to the area of 205 Walnut Drive. When Deputy Simmons arrived at the residence a group of over thirty people quickly dispersed in all directions. One of the home’s residents, Jesse Shankland, age 19, approached Deputy Simmons and stated he was having a small gathering while his parents were away when a large number of people appeared. Mr. Shankland admitted he was intoxicated and said he consumed a number of beers while playing beer pong. Consequently, Deputy Simmons arrested Mr. Shankland for underage consumption of alcohol and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 5 Jul 10 the terminal manager of Estes Express Lines, 12140 State Route 7, Belpre, reported sometime between 3 Jul and 5 Jul an unknown suspect(s) entered a fenced area where the company’s semi-trucks are parked and broke windows to enter the vehicles. From the cabs of the eight trucks that were entered the suspect(s) stole the CB radios. A similar incident occurred during the same timeframe occurred at Wetz Trucking at 1285 Blue Knob Road, Marietta. Ten semi-trucks at that location were entered in the same fashion and the CBs were stolen from those trucks as well. These cases remain under investigation (707, 1293).

On 5 Jul 10 Brenda J. Pugh, age 62, 4530 Oak Hill Road, Stockport, reported she drove to confront her ex-husband Wayne, age 64, 315 Pugh Road, Stockport, for allegedly harassing other family members. Following a brief argument outside Mr. Pugh’s home, Ms. Pugh was walking back to her vehicle when Mr. Pugh approached her from behind and punched her in the mouth. Mr. Pugh then shoved his estranged wife, causing her to tumble down a small embankment and into a wire fence. Questioned about the incident, Mr. Pugh stated he had enough of his wife’s mouth and things got out of control. Viewing Ms. Pugh’s injuries, Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Mr. Pugh for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jesse James Shankland, age 19, 205 Walnut Drive, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Shankland was arrested in Devola by Deputy Sheriff and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 10 at 3:05 am.

Mark Steven Hendrix, age 54, 906 Park Avenue, New Matamoras, for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both misdemeanors. Hendrix was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 10 at 3:19 am.

Wayne Elmer Pugh, age 65, 315 Pugh Road, Stockport, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Pugh was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 10 at 11:39 pm.
