On 25 Jun 10 Sgt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriffs Deem and Rhodes responded to a structure fire at the residence of Larry Blaker, age 46, at 372 Echo Valley Road, Waterford. Falling asleep after putting popcorn in his microwave, Mr. Blaker stated he awoke to hear his smoke alarm and observed smoke in the trailer. Mr. Blaker said he took his two deer heads off the wall, threw them outside and ran to his elderly neighbor’s home to ensure his safety. Mr. Blaker was spraying his neighbor’s home with a garden house in attempt to keep it from being damaged when the Beverly-Waterford Fire Department arrived. While Mr. Blaker’s neighbor’s home sustained minor damage, Mr. Blaker’s residence was a total loss. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, therefore the state Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct further investigation. No injuries were reported.

On 25 Jun 10 Ryan M. Barrett, age 33, 1405 Roddy Road, Vincent, reported a friend spent the night at his residence after the two rode ATVs late into the evening on 18 Jun. Two days later Mr. Barrett said he determined a money order for $324.30 was missing from his kitchen table. Mr. Barrett’s friend later forged his signature and cashed the money order but has been reimbursed for the loss. This case remains under investigation (712).

On 25 Jun 10 an employee of Byers Exxon, 26960 State Route 7, Marietta, reported a female left the store without paying for two twelve packs of Pepsi. Utilizing a license plate number obtained by the clerk, Deputy Sheriff Smeeks identified Amy S. Brown, age 41, 300 Starlite Drive Lot 38, Marietta, as a suspect. Located at her residence, Ms. Brown denied taking the Pepsi but her son produced two twelve packs of Pepsi his mother just brought home. Positively identified by the store clerk, Ms. Brown was arrested for theft and transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Ronald Wayne Gilbert, age 45, 920 Quarry Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Gilbert was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 8:54 am.

Bobby Dean Baker, age 40, 190 Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Baker was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 10:04 am.

Rachael Bernice Martin, age 25, 32 Anderson Lane, Waterford, for operating a vehicle without a license, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for contempt of a court order, all misdemeanors. Martin was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 10:44 am.

Amy Sue Brown, age 41, 300 Starlite Drive Lot 38, Marietta, for theft, a misdemeanor. Brown was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 9:05 pm.

Jason Homer Malone, age 32, 405 Lord Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct and for criminal damaging, both misdemeanors. Malone was arrested on Second Street by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 9:29 pm.

Gary Lee Jackson, age 28, 300 Phillips Street, Marietta, for a felony charge of receiving stolen property and for misdemeanor charges of violating the terms of a protection order and obstructing official business. Jackson was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jun 10 at 10:40 pm.
