On 10 Jun 10 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes requested a summons for John J. Stone, age 29, 5359 Waterford Road, Marietta, for possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputy Rhodes encountered Mr. Stone while investigating a structure fire in Muskingum Township on 5 Apr 10. During his conversation with Deputy Rhodes, Mr. Stone admitted he was in possession of contraband and produced a brass marijuana pipe that later tested positive for marijuana.

On 10 Jun 10 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes requested a summons for Peggy S. Farnsworth, age 22, 3635 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct. Ms. Farnsworth was involved in a dispute with her boyfriend on 7 Jun after her boyfriend took her phone to see if there were text messages to another man on the phone. Admitting there were messages to another man on her phone, Ms. Farnsworth stated she became extremely angry with her boyfriend and repeatedly grabbed his arms and scratched his back while she attempted to usurp the phone. A neighbor reported she did not observe the incident but said she could hear Ms. Farnsworth yelling.

On 10 Jun 10 Troy P. Lowe, age 41, 15671 State Route 60, Lowell, reported around 1 am he heard a loud pop and the what sounded like a vehicle accelerating away from his home. When he looked outside, Mr. Lowe said he saw flames rising from under his Chevy S-10. Mr. Lowe was able to extinguish the fire using a rake but not before it caused damage to the vehicle. At the scene Deputy Sheriff Carr observed broken glass and a cloth which may be remnants of a Molotov cocktail. This case remains under investigation.

On 10 Jun 10 an officer with the Belpre Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop after noticing a pickup truck with smoke emanating from the engine and with damage to the front end. The truck pulled into Exxon on Main Street in Belpre and the truck’s three occupants fled on foot. Allegedly unaware that his truck was at the gas station, the vehicle’s owner, Ronald D. Miller, age 28, 2810 State Route 555, Little Hocking, arrived at the location on foot to purchase a cappuccino. Mr. Miller, who appeared heavily intoxicated, commented that he was away from his residence fishing and had no idea as to what happened to his truck. Further investigating Mr. Miller’s whereabouts for the evening, Deputy Sheriff Rhodes located a bag of snacks Mr. Miller left along the bank near the new bridge on Lake Road. Consequently, Deputy Rhodes requested a summons for Mr. Miller for littering. The theft of Mr. Miller’s truck remains under investigation.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Amy Lucille Marshall, age 33, 207 Florence Street, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Marshall was arrested at her residence by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jun 10 at 2:39 pm.

Melinda R. Kiner-Ballard, age 34, 1616 Harrison Avenue, Cincinnati, for illegally processing drug documents and for using deception to obtain a dangerous drug, both felonies. Kiner-Ballard was arrested on Elm Street by Patrolman Jobes of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jun 10 at 4:15 pm.

Carl Edward Dearth, age 60, 425 Old River Road, Little Hocking, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Dearth was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jun 10 at 5:11 pm.

Johnathan Bryan Beeler, age 24, 3631 State Route 550, Cutler, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Beeler was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Jun 10 at 5:32 pm.
