On 4 Jun 10 Sgt. Norman arrested Derek R. Whytsell,
age 29, 167 Vickers Road, Marietta, for possession of drugs
and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Whytsell was the backseat
passenger in a vehicle Sgt. Norman stopped on Vickers Road while
investigating a complaint. When he approached the vehicle, Sgt.
Norman noticed Mr. Whytsell appeared to be fidgeting with something
and then observed a bag of marijuana and a marijuana pipe near
Mr. Whytsell’s feet. Mr. Whytsell admitted the contraband
belonged to him and stated that he smokes marijuana to treat
On 4 Jun 10 Deputy Sheriff Simmons responded
to the scene of death of a sixty-one year old New Matamoras
resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural
causes; no foul play is suspected.
On 4 Jun 10 a thirty-four year old Marietta
resident reported his ex-wife’s boyfriend threatened him.
The victim said the suspect was delivering medical supplies
on behalf of his ex-wife for their son and that the suspect
also shoved his teenage daughter. This case remains under investigation
On 4 Jun 10 Sgt. Thorpe issued a citation to
Timothy C. Nay, age 41, 9105 State Route 550, Vincent, for driving
under a suspended license. Sgt. Thorpe stopped Mr. Nay for having
a cracked windshield and for not using a turn signal on State
Route 550 near milepost nine in Barlow Township.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Derek Ryan Whytsell, age 29, 167 Vickers Road,
Marietta, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Whytsell was arrested at his residence by
Sgt. Norman of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jun 10 at
Timothy Curtis Nay, age 40, 9105 State Route
550, Vincent, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Nay was
arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Kirby of the Belpre City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
4 Jun 10 at 8:48 pm.
Robert Eugene Peters, age 63, 567 Coal Run
Drive, Beverly, for three felony counts of trafficking in drugs.
Peters was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Mankins of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 4 Jun 10 at 9:19 pm.
