On 27 May 10 Bradley Cozzens, age 30, 1717 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, reported his girlfriend Tiffany A. Bloss, age 30, 1115 Lynch Church Road, Marietta, ambushed him when he entered his camper at the Landings campground. Yelling and swearing, Ms. Bloss struck Mr. Cozzens repeatedly in face and chest before he was able to usher her out of the camper. Viewing Mr. Cozzens’ injuries, Sgt. Mankins arrested Ms. Bloss for assault and transported her to the Washington County Jail. At the jail Ms. Bloss tested .154 BAC.

On 27 May 10 Richard A. Adams, age 48, 2634 Oak Hill Road, Cutler, was life-flighted to the Charleston Medical Center following a tractor rollover on his property. Mr. Adams was conscious while members of the Barlow and Wesley Fire Departments treated a large laceration on his head. It appears Mr. Adams was towing a baler when his vehicle rolled over an embankment and approximately 100 yards into a ravine (610).

On 27 May 10 Sgt. Thorpe issued a citation to Katherine E. Hall, age 27, 330 Kloes Road, Waterford, for not wearing a seat belt. Sgt. Thorpe originally stopped Ms. Hall for improperly displaying her license plate on Patten Mills Road near State Route 555 in Wesley Township.

On 27 May 10 a neighbor reported seeing suspicious activity at a vacant residence owned by Kenneth L. Gumm, age 77, at 9865 State Route 26 in Marietta. Mr. Gumm now lives in Tennessee but still has a large quantity of scrap metal and other items on his property in Lawrence Township. At the scene, Sgt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriffs Carr and Deem interviewed Billy D. Smith Jr., age 43, 209 Elm Street, Marietta. Mr. Smith initially denied taking any of items from the property without permission but later commented that he transported a load of scrap from the property to sell at a recycling center. In another section of the property the Deputies located John L. Lindsey II, age 34, 230 East Henniger Road, Lowell. Though Mr. Lindsey denied being Mr. Smith’s co-conspirator, the Deputies discovered tracks matching his shoe tread along with those of Mr. Smith. In addition to the shoe tracks, Mr. Smith stated Mr. Lindsey was involved in stealing and selling the scrap they removed from the property. Consequently, Both Mr. Smith and Mr. Lindsey were arrested for a felony charge of theft and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 27 May 10 a neighbor reported hearing a woman scream “stop” several times from inside a residence at 798 Mayle Ridge Road, Cutler. When Lts. Underwood and Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Anderson arrived at the home, neither of the residents would open the door. Entering the unlocked residence to check for injuries to the residents, the Deputies observed a female and two males, one of whom was identified as Matthew Dowler, age 46. Mr. Dowler was uncooperative, had a strong odor of alcohol and had to be forcibly escorted outside the residence. Determining no act of domestic violence occurred, Deputy Anderson arrested Mr. Dowler for disorderly conduct by intoxication. When transported to the Washington County jail Mr. Dowler tested .172 BAC.

On 27 May 10 Alicia N. Hubbard, age 39, 9322 Federal Road, Cutler, reported she erected a five foot by two foot plywood sign directed toward her husband for having a large sum of unpaid child support and sometime between around 6 am the sign was stolen. Ms. Hubbard declined to pursue charges in the matter. She is pondering creating a new sign with the same information (200).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Amy Roser, age 33, 3276 Kristen Court, Columbus, for failing to appear in Juvenile Court for a hearing on 4 May 10.

James A. Anderson, age 38, 2400 Hanvey Avenue, Belpre, for failing to appear to serve thirty days in jail on 14 May 10.

Eric C. Edgar, age 25, for failing to register a change of address as a registered sex offender.

Neal D. Groves, age 43, 1308 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras, for failing to appear for a probation violation hearing on 19 May 10.

Patrick R. Vandyke, age 33, 5031 Vore Ridge Road, Athens, for issuing a bad check for $481.45 to Lang’s Outdoor Power Equipment on 30 Apr 09.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Tiffany Anne Bloss, age 30, 1115 Lynch Church Road, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor. Bloss was arrested at the Landings campground by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 10 at 1:22 am.

Donald Eugene Sharp, age 30, 301 Main Street, Waterford, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Sharp was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 10 at 9:37 am.

Billy Dale Smith Jr., age 43, 209 Elm Street, Marietta, for theft, for violating the terms of his probation, for failing to reinstate his operator’s license and for operating a vehicle with fictitious plates, all misdemeanors. Smith was arrested on State Route 26 by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 10 at 1:14 pm.

John Lewis Lindsey II, age 34, 230 East Henniger Road, Lowell, for theft, a felony. Lindsey was arrested on State Route 26 by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 10 at 1:41 pm.

Matthew William Dowler, age 46, 798 Mayle Ridge Road, Cutler, for violating the terms of his probation and for disorderly conduct by intoxication, both misdemeanors. Dowler was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 10 at 9:30 pm.
