On 24 May 10 Sgt. Mankins issued a citation to Joyce E. Koon, age 35, 205 High Street, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, for operating a vehicle with fictitious registration and for not wearing a seat belt. Sgt. Mankins originally stopped Ms. Koon for speeding on Warrior Drive near State Route 550 in Barlow Township.

On 24 May 10 Sgt. Mankins issued a citation to Jayson A. Martin, age 35, 585 Alexander Road, Marietta, for not wearing a seat belt. Sgt. Mankins originally stopped Mr. Martin for operating a vehicle with an expired registration near the intersection of Second and Putnam streets in Marietta.

On 24 May 10 Carla McMahan, age 52, 134 Cornerstone Drive, Marietta, was backing her Ford sedan out of her garage when she struck the front bumper of a FedEx delivery truck that was parked in her driveway. Both vehicles sustained moderate functional damage (594).

On 24 May 10 Deputy Sheriff Caltrider responded to the scene of death of a seventy-five year old Marietta resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 24 May 10 Paul F. Newbanks, age 52, 7923 Veto Road, Belpre, reported an individual in Texas obtained his debit card number and used it to purchase over $300 in goods over the internet. Mr. Newbanks’ financial institution made arrangements to reimburse him for his loss. Unable to investigate further, Deputy Sheriff Lockhart closed this case as unfounded.

On 24 May 10 Howard M. Gayheart, age 37, 39 McVicar Lane, Vincent, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) scratched two obscenities in the paint on the hood of his car. This case remains under investigation (500).

On 24 May 10 Sgt. Thorpe and Deputy Sheriff Lockhart responded to the scene of a domestic dispute at 945 Dodd Run Road, Marietta. The Deputies found no evidence of domestic violence but one of the home’s residents, John McCarty, age 34, stated he had been smoking marijuana and taking prescription intermittently throughout the day. When contacted, Mr. McCarty’s probation officer asked the Deputies to arrest Mr. McCarty for violating his probation. At the time of his arrest Mr. McCarty informed the Deputies he was in possession of contraband and produced a tin of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Consequently, Mr. McCarty was also charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jody Alan McDonald, age 41, 4439 Woodrum Lane, Charleston, WV, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. McDonald turned himself in at Marietta Municipal Court and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 10 at 12:57 pm.

Christopher Ryan Karkellie, age 26, 1310 23rd Street, Lorain, OH, for possession of drugs, for complicity in trafficking in drugs and for trafficking in drugs, all felonies. Karkellie was picked up at the Lorain County Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 10 at 3:18 pm.

Shawn Eugene Leasure, age 33, 836 Pike Street Apt. 12, Marietta, for two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. Leasure was picked up at the Noble County Jail by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 10 at 3:41 pm.

John Fredrick McCarty, age 34, 945 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. McCarty was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Ferrell and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 10 at 6:52 pm.
