On 9 May 10 Detective Parks, Sgt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriff Deem responded to the scene of death of a forty-nine year old Marietta resident. Though the man appears to have died as the result of a self inflicted wound, this case remains under investigation.

On 9 May 10 Marty A. Godsey, age 34, 10780 State Route 821, Lower Salem, reported a guest in his home awoke him and informed him there was an intoxicated male standing in the living room. Mr. Godsey stated he located the individual, later identified as David W. Wagner, age 18, 2720 Oxbow Road, Belpre, outside the residence. Questioned by Mr. Godsey, Mr. Wright stated he was trying to find an acquaintance who he knew last lived at the residence. Mr. Wagner departed Mr. Godsey’s property in a pickup truck and was later found sleeping in the truck a short distance away. Roused from his slumber by Deputy Sheriff Simmons, Mr. Wagner had a strong odor of alcohol and could not stand without assistance. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Simmons arrested Mr. Wagner for underage consumption of alcohol and transported him to the Washington County Jail. Mr. Godsey declined to pursue charges against Mr. Wagner for trespassing, saying that he was young once and that he thought Mr. Wagner made an honest mistake.

On 9 May 10 the Little Muskingum Fire Department transported Cody M. Frye, age 20, 2727 Archers Fork Road, New Matamoras, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to injuries suffered in an ATV accident. At 2 am Mr. Frye departed a friend’s residence at 4240 Archers Fork Road and struck a trailer as he was en route to his residence. Mr. Frye suffered a broken left leg and other injuries to his left side and was later transported to Grant Medical Center for further treatment.

On 9 May 10 a sixteen year old Marietta resident reported he was stopped in his 1995 Neon in the parking lot of Par Mar at 8600 State Route 339, Vincent when the driver of a maroon truck sideswiped the passenger side of his vehicle. The teenager stated the driver of the oncoming vehicle continued through the parking lot without stopping and fled the scene. The juvenile’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. This incident remains under investigation (200).
