On 2 May 10 Sgt. Thorpe and Deputy Sheriffs Caltrider and Smeeks responded to a domestic dispute at 12787 State Route 676, Marietta. Initially, Russell D. Brooks, age 41, phoned 911 requesting a squad for his wife Carla, age 39, after she struck her head following an argument during which they shoved each other. Mrs. Brooks later phoned and contradicted her husband, saying she injured herself while tweezing her eyebrows. At the scene Deputies could not find Mrs. Brooks but did discover blood on a door frame and also a blood soaked rag in a bathroom. While Mr. Brooks provided contradictory statements on the origin of the blood on the rag, a neighbor approached the residence and said Mrs. Brooks appeared at his residence bloody and distressed. Interviewed thereafter, Mrs. Brooks stated she and her husband had argued throughout the day and she was first injured when her husband pulled on her leg and caused her to fall down the stairs. Subsequent to her fall, Mrs. Brooks said she was gathering her belongings when her husband shoved her and when she fell she hit the back of her head. Based on their investigation, Sgt. Thorpe arrested Mr. Brooks for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 2 May 10 Courtney M. Brooks, age 29, 200 Pennock Drive Lot 3, Beverly, reported being involved in a heated argument with her live-in boyfriend. Ms. Brooks stated she was not assaulted and did not wish to pursue any charges, she just wanted her boyfriend to be separated from her for the evening. Ms. Brooks’ boyfriend complied and agreed to stay with his mother for the evening (1104).

On 2 May 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Shawn D. Barber, age 23, 110 Colonial Square Apt. E, Belpre, for .08 breath OVI. Stopping Mr. Barber on School House Road in Little Hocking for speeding, Deputy Smeeks noticed a strong odor of alcohol. Mr. Barber admitted consuming approximately five beers that evening and agreed to submit to field sobriety tests. Following his poor performance on the tests, Mr. Barber was transported to the Washington County Jail where he tested .099 BAC.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
