On 29 Apr 10 Sgt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes were dispatched to Hickory Grove Market at 5525 State
Route 339, Vincent, in response to a disturbance. Upon arrival
of Deputies at the store, the a clerk stated Eric Wenzel, age
46, 10860 State Route 550, Vincent, was pounding on a bathroom
door. Questioning Mr. Wenzel, Deputy Rhodes detected an odor
of alcohol and noticed Mr. Wenzel had bloodshot eyes. Told he
was under arrest, Mr. Wenzel refused to comply and Deputy Rhodes
had to forcibly restrain Mr. Wenzel. Mr. Wenzel continued to
struggle as he was led to Deputy Rhodes’ cruiser but calmed
while en route to the jail and revealed he was in possession
of a marijuana roach, rolling papers and a marijuana pipe. As
a result of the incident, Deputy Rhodes charged Mr. Wenzel with
disorderly conduct by intoxication, resisting arrest, possession
of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On 29 Apr 10 Heather M. Parrish, age 38, 427
Way Road, Belpre, reported she attempted to flee her residence
with her eight year old child following an argument with her
husband Bryan, age 48, over marital problems and family finances
but her husband reached into the truck she was driving and grabbed
the steering wheel. Mrs. Parrish said her husband pried her
fingers from the steering wheel and bent it back to the point
where she screamed for him to stop. Mr. Parrish finally released
his wife when his son grabbed mobile phone and called for help.
Based on Mrs. Parrish’s statement, Sgt. Hornbeck arrested
Mr. Parrish for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 29 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Anderson and fire
departments from Chesterhill and Barlow and Wesley Townships
responded to a fire at a detached garage near the residence
of Delmar I. Mayle, age 67, at 600 Sheets Road, Stockport. The
fire originated in a wood burning stove inside the garage in
which Mr. Mayle was burning trash as he regularly. The garage,
a 1969 Chevy Cheyenne truck and a 1985 Oldsmobile were deemed
total losses. No injuries were reported as a result of the accidental
fire.
On 29 Apr 10 Brenda S. Cooper, age 48, 623
Virginia Street Apt. 106, Marietta, reported she is in the process
of moving from 300 Starlite Drive Lot 55, Marietta, and that
sometime during the past week approximately 100 landscaping
bricks, a push mower, two shepherd’s hooks, a brake rotor/hub,
a wooden shelf and a trailer brush were stolen from the property.
This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 29 Apr 10 Jay D. Camp, age 35, 1046 Hocking
Road, Little Hocking, reported Romen Z. Vandall, age 27, 124
Gilman Avenue, Marietta, phoned him and stated he was coming
to his home to beat him up because he was allegedly abusing
his fiancée, who is a friend of Mr. Vandall. Mr. Camp
said he later opened the front door expecting a family friend
and Mr. Vandall attempted to force his way into the home. Punching
Mr. Vandall, Mr. Camp was able to shut the door. At that point,
Mr. Vandall began shouting and taunting and refused to leave
Mr. Camp’s property. Arriving at the scene, Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes detected a strong odor of alcohol about Mr. Vandall.
As he arrested Mr. Vandall for disorderly conduct by intoxication
and criminal trespassing, Deputy Rhodes located a bag of marijuana
in Mr. Vandall’s pocket. As a result, Mr. Vandall was
also charged with possession of drugs and transported to the
Washington County Jail.
On 29 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued citations
to Jason E. Waggy, age 24, and Nicole J. Wenzel, age 24, both
of 140 Warner Street Apt. 3, Marietta, for not wearing a seat
belts. Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Waggy for having an inoperable
license plate light near the intersection of Greene and Fourth
streets in Marietta.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Deanna Jo Riffle, age 29, 367 Mitchell Lane,
Washington, WV, for OVI, driving under a suspended license and
for speeding, all misdemeanors. Riffle was arrested in Belpre
by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Apr 10 at 5:19 am.
Robert Wayne Ellison, age 30, 101 Gibbons Lane
Apt. D, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation, a
misdemeanor. Gibbons was arrested at his residence by Probation
Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 29 Apr 10 at 11:19 am.
John Alan Burkey, age 47, 1401 24th Street,
Parkersburg, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Burkey was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Apr 10 at
11:26 am.
Jericho Lee Pugh, age 20, 1490 Pugh Road, Stockport,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Pugh
was arrested in Beverly by Patrolman Oliver of the Beverly Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
29 Apr 10 at 4:10 pm.
Gary Lee Mayle Jr., age 32, 3023 Tuscarawas
Street W. Apt. 2, Canton, for failure to appear, breach of recognizance
and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, all misdemeanors. Mayle was picked up at the Stark County
Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Apr 10 at 6:38 pm.
Eric Don Wenzel, age 46, 10860 State Route
550, Vincent, for resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia,
possession of drugs and for disorderly conduct by intoxication,
all misdemeanors. Wenzel was arrested in Little Hocking by Sgt.
Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Apr 10 at 9:45
pm.
Bryan Keith Tuthill, age 25, 322 ½ Main
Street, Belpre, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Tuthill
was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Kirby of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 29 Apr 10 at 11:00 pm.
Romen Zachary Vandall, age 27, 124 Gilman Avenue,
Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, possession
of drugs and criminal trespassing, all misdemeanors. Vandall
was arrested at 1046 Hocking Road by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Apr 10 at 11:45
pm.
