On 22 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Reeder responded
to an assault report on Pike Street in Marietta. Marsha Smith,
age 40, 34221 Brownsville Road, New Matamoras, was visiting
a relative at the residence when her teenage nephew slapped
her in the face, choked her and wrestled her to the floor. Ms.
Smith declined to pursue charges in the matter due to the fact
that her nephew has mental health issues.
REPEAT DRUG TRAFFICKER
ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
On 22 April 10, Agents with the Major Crimes
Task Force executed a search warrant at 3790 Bells Run Road,
Newport. The search warrant at the residence of Edward A. Minke,
age 42, marks the second search warrant executed at Minke’s
residence during the past four months and follows five purchases
of narcotics during a span of five months. On occasions beginning
on 7 Aug 09, Task Force Agents purchased a variety of drugs
from Minke at his residence, including two pounds of marijuana,
a quarter ounce of cocaine, a half ounce of cocaine, ten Oxycontin
pills and an eighth ounce of cocaine.
In addition to $1,518, prescription pills,
marijuana, digital scales, and a wireless surveillance system
seized from Minke’s residence during a search warrant
on 25 Jan 10, Agents this morning seized marijuana, marijuana
seeds, various pills and drug paraphernalia. Arrested on 25
Jan, Minke subsequently posted $15,000 bond through a bondsman
and resumed trafficking in drugs upon his release. As a result
of their investigation, Task Force Agents concluded Minke operated
a lucrative drug trafficking enterprise and as such, was engaging
in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Task Force Agents arrested Minke this morning
and charged him with a fourth degree felony of trafficking in
marijuana, a third, fourth and fifth degree felony of trafficking
in cocaine, and a second degree felony of engaging in a pattern
of corrupt activity.
The Major Crimes Task Force is a multi-faceted
organization composed of representatives from the Marietta Police
Departments; the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification
and the Morgan and Washington County Prosecuting Attorney and
Minke is incarcerated in the Washington County
Jail without bond pending his initial appearance in Marietta
Office received the following warrants:
Sedequa J. McDowell, age 18, 400 Russell Street
Apt. 3, Beckley, WV, for failing to appear for pretrial on 19
Keith D. Transou, age 40, 102 Muskingum Terrace
Apt. A, Marietta, for trafficking in marijuana on 19 Nov 09.
Ryan J. Jeffers, age 29, 207B McFadden Street,
Saint Clairsville, for driving under a suspended license on
9 Apr 10.
Douglas W. Thompson, age 49, 490 Muskingum
Drive, Marietta, for failing to file Marietta city income taxes
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Edward Albert Minke, age 42, 3790 Bells Run
Road, Newport, for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity
and for four counts of trafficking in drugs, all felonies. Minke
was arrested at his residence by Detective Staats of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 Apr 10 at 9:55 am.
William Chris Offerman, age 45, 115 Hart Street
Apt. 8, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Offerman was arrested at 3790 Bells Run Road
by Deputy Sheriff Mayle and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 22 Apr 10 at 9:55 am.
Matthew David Wiseman, age 20, 118 Bartlett
Street Apt. A, Marietta, for automobile theft, a felony. Wiseman
was picked up at the Southeastern Correctional Institution by
Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 22 Apr 10 at 2:05 pm.
Jeremy Elijah Ernest, age 25, 810 ½
West Virginia Avenue, Parkersburg, for domestic violence and
for failure to appear, both misdemeanors. Ernest was arrested
in Marietta by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
22 Apr 10 at 8:37 pm.
