On 18 Apr 10 Danny Gage, age 58, 56 Patten Mills Road, Cutler, reported he discovered three bags of trash dumped on property he owns on Williams Road. This case remains under investigation (1090).

On 18 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued citations to Ryan W. Mossburg, age 21, 613 Lakeview Drive, Parkersburg, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in March 2010 and for possession of marijuana. Conducting the traffic stop on State Route 7 near milepost nine, Deputy Smeeks smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana when he spoke to Mr. Mossburg. Asked if he was in possession of any contraband, Mr. Mossburg produced a small bag of marijuana from his pants.

On 18 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Reeder filed assault charges against Washington County Jail inmates Joseph Slider, age 20, 16785 County Nine Road, New Matamoras, and Dominick Conley, age 19, 1409 German Church Road, Atwater, OH. In the second floor bathroom of the jail, Mr. Slider grabbed Mr. Conley from behind and bit him on the back of the neck. Retaliating, Mr. Conley grabbed Mr. Slider’s crotch until the biting ceased and a brawl ensued. During the fight Mr. Slider placed Mr. Conley in a headlock and Mr. Conley again responded by grabbing Mr. Slider’s crotch. Both parties sustained minor injuries, including small cuts to their faces, elbows and knees.

On 18 Apr 10 Tammie Ruth, age 45, 1630 Braun Road, Belpre, reported her sons Jonathan Ruth, age 20 and David Ruth, age 18, were involved in an altercation over an Xbox cord and Jonathan suffered an injury to his shoulder. Interviewed at a neighbor’s residence, David commented that his brother raised his voice at him during an argument over the Xbox cord so he put him in a headlock and took him to the floor. In addition to harming his brother, Ms. Ruth said David shoved her against a wall when she yelled at him and slammed a golf club into the wall beside where she was pinned. In consequence, Deputy Sheriff Lockhart arrested David Ruth for two counts of domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Brian Keith Hitchcock, age 30, 309 ½ Franklin Street, Marietta, for burglary, a felony. Hitchcock was arrested on Fort Street by Patrolman Nohe of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Apr 10 at 5:49 am.

David Alan Ruth, age 18, 1630 Braun Road, Belpre, for two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Ruth was arrested at 1500 Braun Road by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Apr 10 at 10:20 pm.
