Archive of 04-13-10

On 13 Apr 10 Lt. Gherke, Deputy Sheriff Mayle and Officer Weaver of the Marietta College Police Department located Ronald S. Science, age 43, at 1225 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, to arrest him for several warrants. Informed he was under arrest, Mr. Science became upset and verbally abusive to the arresting officers. Despite his poor behavior, Mr. Science requested that he be allowed to have a cup of coffee and a cigarette. Even though he was told he could have both if he cooperated, Mr. Science continued his disruptive behavior and resisted being handcuffed until he was forced to the floor. Therefore, in addition to being arrested for the active warrants, Mr. Science was charged with resisting arrest.

On 13 Apr 10 Estelle Gallagher, age 82, 417 Goss Fork Road, Whipple, reported she was involved in an argument with a family member and following the dispute the family member kicked and damaged the front door of her residence. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 13 Apr 10 Jessica M. Powell, age 27, 945 Tullis Road, Amesville, reported she was assaulted after a verbal dispute with a neighbor. Ms. Powell stated she and her mother questioned a neighbor at 990 Tullis Road over a missing dog and had returned to her residence when James A. Hill, age 35, 17042 Seat Road, Amesville, arrived in his truck. Believing that Ms. Powell was harassing his mother, Mr. Hill struck Ms. Powell in the forehead. Questioned about the altercation, Mr. Hill admitted striking Ms. Powell but commented that he only did so because she charged at him and tried to kick him. Based on statements from witnesses, Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Mr. Hill for assault and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

James Allen Hill, age 35, 17042 Sweat Road, Amesville, for two misdemeanor counts of assault. Hill was arrested on Tullis Road in Cutler by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 10 at 10:45 am.

Ronald Scott Science, age 43, 209 Faye Avenue, Marietta, for assault, aggravated menacing, telephone harassment and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. Science was arrested at 1255 Leith Run Road by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 10 at 10:55 am.

Roger W. Burkhart Sr., age 43, 655 Goose Run Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Burkhart was arrested at Marietta Mills by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 10 at 7:30 pm.

Karen Louise Brugger, age 57, 108 Colonial Square Apt. D, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Brugger was picked up at the Belpre City Police Department Lt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 10 at 9:38 pm.

Donald Richard Gregor Jr., age 37, 210 Vine Street, Marietta, for criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. Gregor was arrested at the Locker Room by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 10 at 11:03 pm.
