Slurring her speech and unsteady on her feet, Ms. Martin was being disruptive and refused to leave her girlfriend’s residence on State Route 550 in Marietta. Ms. Martin agreed to leave the residence on the condition that she not leave her mother’s residence at the end of the driveway. A short while later Sgt. Struggling to get free, Ms. Bates stated she was unable to phone for help because Mr. Workman ripped the base of the cordless phone from the wall. Mr. Workman’s attacks continued as Ms. Bates attempted to phone for help from her mobile phone, with Mr. Workman shoving her against the wall and throwing several items around the home. As the two later struggled near front door, Mr. Workman slammed the door on Ms. Bates’ left hand. Mr. Workman fled the residence after gathering his beer and cigarettes and fled in Ms. Bates’ truck. Mr. Workman was later arrested after returning to his residence and arrested for disrupting public service, domestic violence and failing to reinstate his operator’s license and transported to the Washington County Jail (790, 905).

The father of Ms. Dietrich’s four month old child, Mr. Fankhauser was distraught that he found Ms. Dietrich had called her ex-husband earlier in the day. Ms. Dietrich left Mr. Fankhauser’s residence as he requested and she stopped a short distance away to shut a partially closed car door she heard what sounded like four gunshots. Ms. Dietrich commented that she feared she would be shot if she remained so she fled the area.
