On 5 Apr 10 Kellie M. Felter, age 19, 507 ½ Third Street, New Matamoras, reported when she departed her residence at 7 pm she locked the doors and turned off the lights and when she returned to her home at 8:30 pm she heard a thump and noticed two lights were turned on. Investigating the interior of the home, Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Carr could not locate any signs of forced entry or evidence that a suspect entered the home. This case remains under investigation.

On 5 Apr 10 a witness reported seeing flames near a barn on property adjacent to 4791 Waterford Road in Marietta. When Deputy Sheriff Rhodes arrived at the scene the Oak Grove Fire Department was in the process of extinguishing the small fire set to a pile of tires. Deputy Rhodes identified the owner of the property and soon thereafter located the property owner in a parked vehicle along Huck Road. In addition to the property owner, John J. Stone, age 29, 5359 Waterford Road, Marietta, a small truck with a large number of tires in the bed was parked nearby. Prior to questioning, Deputy Rhodes patted down Mr. Stone for weapons and discovered a piece of brass that Mr. Stone stated he fashioned into a marijuana bowl. Questioned about the fire, Mr. Stone stated he was burning the tires in order to obtain the metal which he would later sell as scrap. Based on his investigation, Deputy Rhodes requested a summons for Mr. Stone for open burning and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On 5 Apr 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Tessa R. Hendershot, age 21, 1103 Colonial Drive, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with registration that expired in September 2009. Deputy Mankins stopped Ms. Hendershot near the intersection of Third and Putnam streets in Pioneer Township.

On 5 Apr 10 Brenda Flowers, age 63, 10383 State Route 555, Cutler, reported she and her now deceased husband issued a contractor a check for over $5,000 in April 2008 to replace their roof and the contractor has yet to complete the work. This case remains under investigation (610).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

David Garrett Bing, age 27, 37235 State Route 143, Pomeroy, for driving under a twelve point suspended license, a misdemeanor. Bing was arrested in Meigs County by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 10 at 1:17 am.

Robert Alan Richards, age 35, 713 Montgomery Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Richards was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 10 at 10:15 am.

Jessica Lynn Stevens, age 28, 735 Eighth Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Stevens was arrested at her residence by Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 10 at 3:00 pm.

Dustin Matthew Kelly, age 29, 1040 Caywood Road, Marietta, for a felony charge of assault and for misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication and resisting arrest. Kelly was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 10 at 9:00 pm.
