On 11 Jan 10 Deputy Sheriffs Mayle and Smeeks
responded for the second time in an hour to a domestic disturbance
at 125 Rummer Road, Marietta. The Deputies initially determined
no threat or act of domestic violence occurred and were about
to close the case as unfounded when dispatchers received a
second distress call. Upon the arrival of the Deputies the
victim, Julie Hoskinson-Haney, age 36, explained that her husband
James, age 45, told her earlier in the evening that he was
leaving her and requested she give him money for gas. When
Mrs. Haney handed her husband $4 he became irate, tore up the
money and grabbed her by the hair. Mr. Haney then head butted
his wife and threw her to the floor. Mrs. Haney said her husband
followed her as she walked outside to get fresh air and another
scuffle occurred, during which she was thrown down onto the
snow. Based on their investigation, Deputy Smeeks arrested
Mr. Haney for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
