On 5 Jan 10 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart performed a welfare check on a forty-six year old Belpre resident after the woman reported to dispatchers she was intoxicated and had ingested several pills. Finding the door open to the Moody Ridge Road residence, Deputy Lockhart entered the home and made contact with the complainant. The woman appeared heavily intoxicated and agitated at Deputy Lockhart’s presence. Though she denied taking any pills, the victim did agree to be transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

On 5 Jan 10 the New Matamoras Fire Department transported a nineteen year old Williams Avenue resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment following a suicide attempt. Responsive and coherent when Deputy Sheriff Caltrider arrived at her residence, the victim said she consumed a handful of one a day energy pills and several sleeping pills in an attempt to get back the boyfriend who recently broke up with her.

On 5 Jan 10 Nicole D. Efaw, age 23, 29 Mercer Drive, Waterford, reported she was assaulted by her husband William, age 23, during an argument over their bills. Mrs. Efaw stated the disagreement was over the couple pending dissolution of their marriage and the division of bill payments once she moves out of the marital home. During the argument Mrs. Efaw said she was writing on a paper with a marker when her husband slammed his fist on top her hand, causing the marker to break and an injury to her hand. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks, Mr. Efaw refuted his wife’s statement, denying that he struck her hand and instead saying that she simply broke the marker. Citing the ink on Mrs. Efaw’s hand and her visible injury, Deputy Smeeks arrested Mr. Efaw for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
