On 23 Dec 09 Deputy Sheriff Caltrider and
fire departments from Barlow, Dunham and Wesley townships were
dispatched to a fire at the home of Lou Ann Hall, age 53, at
3375 Burnett Road, Cutler. Fully engulfing the home, the blaze
caused significant damage to the structure. Two residents of
the home were uninjured but Ms. Hall and two other occupants
were transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment
to injuries suffered when they jumped from a second story window.
The cause of the fire is unknown, however a witness reported
hearing what he thought was an explosion. The State Fire Marshall’s
Office was contacted and will attempt to ascertain the cause
of the fire.
On 23 Dec 09 Marta K. Henrie, age 51, 840
Pike Street Apt. 29, Marietta, reported as soon as she arrived
home from work her intoxicated husband, John, age 44, started
threatening her. During his tirade, Mr. Henrie exclaimed he
would throw his wife through a wall, drew his fist at her and
said he was going to kill her. Mrs. Henrie said her husband
was on a three or four day drinking binge and further revealed
that she was in great fear for her safety as a result of being
assaulted by her husband in the past and due to the fact that
her husband stated he would shred her up in a saw mill so no
one would find her. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Simmons arrested
Mr. Henrie for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 23 Dec 09 Michael Wells, age 30, 606 Mill
Branch Road, Belpre, reported he and his wife left for work
around 7 am and when he returned at 3:30 pm he noticed his
front door was open and his dog was outside. Once inside his
home Mr. Wells discovered a gift wrapped thirty-seven inch
television, a laptop, a CD player, an XBOX 360 and a video
game were missing. This case remains under investigation (308).
On 23 Dec 09 a twenty-seven year old Lower
Salem resident reported she received a threatening phone call
from an individual despite her previous requests that the individual
not contact her. This case remains under investigation (296).
On 23 Dec 09 Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck issued
a citation to Jeremy C. House, age 24, 6750 O’Neil Road,
Coolville, for operating a vehicle with fictitious registration.
Deputy Hornbeck stopped Mr. House on Federal Road near Miles
Road in Belpre Township.
DRUG TRAFFICKING ARRESTS
Following controlled purchases of narcotics on successive
days at the end of November, Task Force Agents yesterday arrested
Hill Franklin Smith, age 43, 1483 Dutton Hill Road, Macksburg,
and his girlfriend Shandi R. Fisk, age 27, 41127 Marietta Road,
Caldwell, for trafficking in drugs. Described as one of the
top dealers in prescription drugs in Washington County, Smith
has eluded law enforcement for some time. Smith’s arrest
is subsequent to an informant’s purchase of thirteen
40 mg Oxycontin pills at his residence on 24 Nov 09. Thirteen
Oxycontin pills are considered a bulk amount of the drug and
the controlled transaction took place in the presence of two
juveniles, thus elevating the trafficking charge to a second
degree felony.
The day after the Oxycontin purchase Task Force Agents utilized
an undercover operative to purchase ten ecstasy pills from
Ms. Fisk at 842 Pike Street, Marietta. Ecstasy is a Schedule
I controlled substance and trafficking in the drug is considered
a third degree felony.
Smith and Fisk were arrested on Captain D.
Seely Drive in Marietta without incident and are both currently
being held
without bond. The suspects are scheduled to appear in Marietta
Municipal Court at 1 pm this afternoon.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Steven Douglas Fulton, age 56, 207 Curtis
Avenue, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Fulton was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
23 Dec 09 at 9:06 pm.
John Michael Henrie II, age 44, 840 Pike Street Apt. 30, Marietta,
for being a fugitive from justice and for a misdemeanor charge
of domestic violence. Henrie was arrested at his residence
by Sgt. Thorpe of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Dec 09
at 9:42 pm.
Timothy James Newbrough, age 25, 848 Greene Street, Marietta,
for theft and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Newbrough was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 23 Dec 09 at 10:01 pm.
