On 15 Dec 09 Sgt. Underwood and Deputy Sheriffs
Anderson and Carr responded to the scene of death of a thirty-five
year old Lowell resident. An investigation revealed the victim
was depressed, had attempted suicide twice previously and on
this occasion was successful in taking his own life. No foul
play is suspected.
On 15 Dec 09 Linda S. Bradley, age 57, 13140
County Nine Road, New Matamoras, reported at some point during
the past twelve hours an unknown suspect(s) stole 100 Vicodin
pills and 108 Xanax pills from her home. This case remains
under investigation (296).
On 15 Dec 09 the principal of Warren Elementary
School, 16855 State Route 550, Marietta, reported sometime
between 13 Dec and 15 Dec a vehicle damaged a fence on the
school’s property. Viewing the damage, Deputy Sheriff
Anderson believes the driver of a vehicle was operating recklessly
on a baseball field at the school, lost control of the vehicle
and crashed into the fence, leaving the vehicle’s broken
mirror behind. This case remains under investigation.
On 15 Dec 09 Sgt. Rhodes and Deputy Sheriff
Simmons responded to a domestic disturbance at 614 Main Street,
New Matamoras. Through witness statements the Deputies determined
Dennis J. Skees, age 60, arrived home intoxicated at 1:30 am
and became upset that he was locked out of his house. When
let into the house, Mr. Skees entered his seventeen year old
son’s bedroom and instigated a confrontation. Mr. Skees
struck his son in the head and followed him outside as he attempted
to distance himself from the drunken imbecile. Mr. Skees placed
his son in a bear hug and attempted to punch him in the ribs
but his son pushed him away, causing him to fall over a porch
railing onto the ground. Locked out of the house again, Mr.
Skees retreated to a neighbor’s residence. Based on their
investigation, Deputy Simmons arrested Mr. Skees for domestic
violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

Office received the following warrants:
Christopher P. Cook, age 19, 121 Oakwood Avenue,
Marietta, for failing to appear for final pretrial on 11 Dec
09.
Eliot F. Richardson, age 39, 98 Acme Street Apt. 6, Marietta,
for failing to appear for final pretrial on 11 Dec 09.
Robert W. Ellison, age 19, 101 Gibbons Lane
Apt. D, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $370.50.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Thomas Ira Valentine, age 27, 114 Sunset Drive, Marietta,
for domestic violence and for violating the terms of his probation,
both misdemeanors. Valentine was arrested at his residence
by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Dec 09
at 3:33 am.
Christopher A. Ridgeway, age 29, 63 Dunn Lane, New Matamoras,
for a felony charge of possession of drugs and for misdemeanor
charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
Ridgeway was arrested on Front Street in New Matamoras by Chief
Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 15 Dec 09 at 3:59 am.
Dennis Joseph Skees, age 60, 614 Main Street, New Matamoras,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Skees was arrested at
his residence by Sgt. Rhodes of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15
Dec 09 at 4:44 am.
Donald James Covey, age 35, 13140 County Nine Road, New Matamoras,
for OVI, speeding, for failure to reinstate his operator’s
license and for disorderly conduct by intoxication, all misdemeanors.
Covey was arrested near milepost twenty-seven on State Route
7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 15 Dec 09 at 6:40 am.
Andy Myrl Barringer, age 49, 1200 Lockwood Street Apt. C,
Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Barringer was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Dec 09
at 8:35 am.
