On 5 Dec 09 Deputy Sheriff Sheaves and the
Salem Township Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire
in the parking lot of the Whipple Tavern at 6675 State Route
821, Whipple. The fire’s origin was not deemed suspicious
and caused substantial damage to a Buick sedan owned by Wesley
Huddleston, 1211 Greene Street, Marietta. A Saturn sedan owned
by Dwain Hughes, 65 Sub Division Street, Whipple, was parked
nearby and sustained minimal damage as a result of the blaze.
On 5 Dec 09 Russell Moreland, age 55, 2309
Mount Vernon Circle, Parkersburg, reports he owns land near
the intersection of Roberts and Winters roads that is posted “no
trespassing” and said that hunters continue to use his
land without permission. This case remains under investigation
(610).
On 5 Dec 09 Deputy Sheriff Anderson arrested
Heather D. Lang, age 34, 785 Bosner Ridge Road, Lowell, for
domestic violence. Responding to a 911 hang up call, Deputy
Anderson and Sgt. Underwood observed wounds on the head, neck
and back of Mrs. Lang’s husband Tim, age 33. Mr. Lang
said his wife was seated in a chair when they began to argue
of their child and she kicked him several times in the stomach.
Mr. Lang stated he grabbed his wife’s hair and held her
down to cease the attack, at which point Mrs. Lang started
punching, kicking and biting him. Based on the statements of
Mr. and Mrs. Lang, the s determined Mrs. Lang was the primary
aggressor.
On 5 Dec 09 Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck responded
to the scene of death of an eighty-three year old Waterford
resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural
causes; no foul play is suspected.
On 5 Dec 09 Kathleen Wriston, age 53, 421
Second Street, Vincent, reported her husband Kenneth, age 53,
shoved her to the ground during an argument inside her garage.
Mrs. Wriston stated the two were intoxicated and arguing and
that her shin and forearm were sore as a result of her fall.
When questioned, Mr. Wriston denied shoving his wife and claimed
that she smacked him in the face. Deputy Anderson could not
verify Mr. Wriston’s statement and arrested him for domestic
violence after verifying the veracity of Mrs. Wriston’s
statement with evidence in the garage.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Bryce Eugene Barnes, age 19, 2293 Williamstown Pike, Williamstown,
for a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon and for
misdemeanor charges of assault, aggravated trespassing, theft
and criminal mischief. Barnes was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman
Wright of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Dec 09 at 2:00 am.
Heather Dawn Lang, age 34, 785 Bosner Ridge Road, Lowell,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Lang was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 5 Dec 09 at 3:15 am.
Jason Robert McClung, age 32, 420 Main Street Apt. 1A, Waterford,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. McClung was arrested on State Route 339
in Belpre by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 5 Dec 09 at 5:07 am.
