On 7 Nov 09 Deputy Sheriff Simmons investigated
the report of a vehicle that was stolen from the Whipple Tavern
and later crashed on State Route 821 in Lower Salem. The vehicle’s
owner, Matthew McLeish, age 27, 424 Fifth Street, Lowell, suffered
injuries during the crash and initially stated he jumped on
the back of the vehicle while it was being stolen. Mr. McLeish
said he was then thrown off the vehicle when it crashed. Interviewed
again the following day after receiving treatment at the hospital,
Mr. McLeish recanted and stated he was too intoxicated to drive
so he gave the keys to a friend to drive and that he was a
passenger in the vehicle when it crashed. Therefore, Deputy
Simmons closed the report of a stolen vehicle as unfounded.
On 7 Nov 09 Deputy Sheriff Carr conducted
a traffic stop on a vehicle whose description matched that
of one leaving the scene of an incident at 29 Garden City,

home’s resident, Jennifer Lyons, age 29. Under questioning,
Ms. Zimmer eventually said she accused Ms. Lyons of having
an extra-marital affair, called her derogatory names and poked
her in the left cheek. For her behavior, Deputy Carr issued
Ms. Zimmer a minor misdemeanor citation for disorderly conduct.
The traffic stop also resulted in a citation for the vehicle’s
driver, Stephanie M. Arnold, age 22, 29765 State Route 7, Marietta.
Deputy Carr discovered Ms. Arnold was operating a vehicle without
a license. The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of
Halstead Road and State Route 60 in Muskingum Township.

altercation. The victim in the incident, Brittane Earl, age
22, is Mr. Ellison’s live-in girlfriend and was receiving

Ellison was highly intoxicated and refused to leave a cookout
the two were attending at a home on McGill Road. Ms. Earl commented
that she was waiting at her vehicle when Mr. Ellison approached
her and punched her in the chest. Shoving Mr. Ellison in return,
Ms. Earl said her boyfriend fell to the ground and that the
next thing she remembers was that he threw a rock at her and
she began bleeding profusely from near her temple. When located

driving left of center, operating a vehicle without a license

vehicle. Mr. Mitchell said the vehicle drove off when he walked
outside and the suspect was no longer near his vehicle. Locating
the suspect vehicle, Deputy Sheriff Carr could not find any
evidence of property stolen from Mr. Mitchell. Deputy Carr
did determine though that the driver of the vehicle, Brian
D. Hess, age 33, 168 Dawes Circle, Marietta, had a suspended
