On 6 Nov 09 Jodie Miller, age 26, 27360 State
Route 7 Lot 17, Marietta, reported she was involved in an altercation
with her live-in boyfriend Wayne L. Ruth, age 23. Arguing over
the results of a paternity test that concluded Mr. Ruth was
not the father of the couple’s child, Mr. Ruth began
throwing items around the home and tore the bathroom door of
its hinges. At one point during the argument Ms. Miller stated
Mr. Ruth threw her to the floor, straddled her and choked her
for a short period of time. Though Ms. Miller said she did
not want Mr. Ruth arrested, she did say she feared for her
safety during the incident. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Reeder
arrested Mr. Ruth for domestic violence and transported him
to the Washington County Jail (208, 500, 1090).
On 6 Nov 09 Lt. Stackpole, along with volunteer
fire departments from Devola and Salem and Fearing townships,
responded to a fire at 213 Second Street, Lower Salem. Awakened
by his dog coughing, Ross Phillips, age 22, found smoke in
the home and escaped along with his girlfriend from the home
they rent. The fire of unknown origin was confined to the attic
and caused minimal damage.
On 6 Nov 09 a sixty-three year old Fleming
resident reported an individual she is evicting from a rental
property phoned her several times and made threatening comments.
This case remains under investigation (308).
On 6 Nov 09 Sgt. Rhodes and Deputy Sheriffs
Carr and Hornbeck responded to a residence on Lake Road in
Belpre where a twenty-six year old male was acting erratically
and reportedly inflicted a large wound on his arm with a knife.
Schizophrenic and not able to afford his medications, the subject
consumed six beers that evening and would not comply with the
Deputies that arrived to assist him. After being stunned twice
with a Taser, the subject was transported to Marietta Memorial
Hospital without further incident. The subject will require
transport to Columbus for treatment to his self-inflicted wound.
On 6 Nov 09 Linda S. Vance, age 49, 1204 County
House Lane Apt. B, Marietta, reported she inadvertently left
her mobile phone on the counter in the restroom at Influent
and when she returned to retrieve it the Net 10 phone was missing.
This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 6 Nov 09 Irvin Stokes, age 80, 372 Brownsville
Road, New Matamoras, reported he was away from his residence
from noon until 4 pm and at some point during that time frame
an unknown suspect(s) entered his home and stole a box of ten
Fentanyl patches. This case remains under investigation (296).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Wayne Landon Ruth, age 23, 116 Bailey Drive,
Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Ruth was arrested
at his residence by Sgt. Norman of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Nov
09 at 4:26 am.
Joseph Michael Shuman, age 32, 15490 Emerson
Avenue, Parkersburg, for breach of recognizance, OVI, possession
of drug paraphernalia and theft, all misdemeanors. Shuman was
arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Ellenwood
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 6 Nov 09 at 9:52 am.
Robin Louise Knowlton, age 43, 911 Park Avenue, New Matamoras,
for possession of drugs and for possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Knowlton was arrested at the New Matamoras
pool by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Nov 09 at
10:00 pm.
