On 2 Nov 09 Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck responded
to the scene of death of an eighty-eight year old Little Hocking
resident. The woman’s death appears to be due to natural
causes; no foul play is suspected.
On 2 Nov 09 Gary Tornes, age 19, 25 Milner
Road, Waterford, reported he parked his Jeep at his uncle’s
house at 1950 Milner Road while he went to dinner and when
he returned an hour later he noticed scratches on the hood
and on both sides of the vehicle. This case remains under investigation
(608).
On 2 Nov 09 Moriah Lowery, age 20, 37 Mountaineer
Way, Williamstown, reported an unknown suspect damaged the
rear driver’s side window of her vehicle while it was
parked at 711 Devola Street, Marietta, between 12:45 pm and
4 pm. This case remains under investigation (790).
On 2 Nov 09 a nineteen year old Belpre resident
reported she has been receiving unwanted phone calls from an
unknown suspect for the past several weeks despite changing
her mobile phone number and only disseminating the number to
friends and family. This case remains under investigation (592).
On 2 Nov 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins requested
a summons for Jessica E. Grimes, age 29, 237 Klondike Avenue,
Sistersville, WV, for theft. An employee at Guernsey Scrap
Recycling stated to another employee that it was quite odd
that Ms. Grimes was issued a check for over $1,000 for scrap
metal when the metal she brought in on 30 Oct 09 was transported
to the business in her Chevy Cavalier. Further investigation
revealed Ms. Grimes allegedly altered a metal ticket from indicating
seventy-nine pounds to over 1,000 pounds of miscellaneous metals.
When questioned, Mr. Grimes confirmed she altered the ticket
and stated she did so because she was behind in paying for
her utilities.
On 2 Nov 09 an employee at Dr. Jeffrey Gilmore’s
orthodontics office reported when she checked the mail that
morning she noticed a number of holes in the office’s
sign at 10960 State Route 550, Vincent. The cause of the damage
is unknown but it appears a majority of them could have been
caused by a pellet or BB gun. This case remains under investigation
(308).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Reed Mitchell Joyce, age 20, 73 Glencoe Street,
Belpre, for failure to register and for possession of drug
paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Joyce was arrested on Front
Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 2 Nov 09 at 1:20 am.
Brittany Maria Martin, age 24, 816 ½ Third
Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation,
a misdemeanor. Martin was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Ferrell and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 2 Nov 09 at 12:20 pm.
