On 29 Oct 09 Paul F. Newbanks Jr., age 52,
7923 Veto Road, Belpre, reported he awoke at 5:30 am to the
sound of a door of home opening and closing. When he walked
into his kitchen Mr. Newbanks said he looked out the window
and saw what appeared to be a Dodge Neon speeding away. Mr.
Newbanks said whoever entered his home couldn’t have
been inside for more than a minute and that the only thing
missing is his live-in girlfriend’s purse. Mr. Newbanks’ girlfriend
said the purse contained a check, a bottle of the prescription
drug Provigil, two unfilled prescriptions and other items.
Later in the morning a resident on Braun Road discovered what
he thought was trash on his property but was actually some
of the content of Mr. Newbanks’ girlfriend’s purse.
Deputy Sheriff Anderson recovered the items, which included
the check, one empty and one full bottle of Provigil and articles
of mail. The remaining stolen items, the unfilled prescriptions,
credit cards and debit cards, are still missing. This case
remains under investigation (592, 905).
On 29 Oct 09 Donald E. Bartimus Sr., age 56,
2346Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, reported he attempted to have
a conversation with his son over his son’s drug usage
when his son, Donald Jr., age 29, attacked him. Mr. Bartimus
stated his son broke a coffee table, shoved him into a wall
and repeatedly punched him in the ribs. Hearing that his father
phoned 911, Donald Jr. fled on foot and has yet to be located.
As a result, Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a warrant for Donald
Jr. for domestic violence.
On 29 Oct 09 Jeff Schilling, age 43, 260 Ray
Harr Road, Beverly, reported he wrote a check for $636 for
a new Filter Queen sweeper in June and the sweeper has not
yet been delivered. Deputy Sheriff Mankins contacted the salesman
who placed the order for the sweeper and he is attempting to
remedy the situation.
On 29 Oct 09 a witness reported two neighbors
were causing a commotion, yelling a spinning the tires of their
vehicles at 35610 State Route 7, Newport. One of the involved
parties was no longer at the residence when Lt. Wilson and
Deputy Simmons arrived but they were able to interview Jacob
L. Hall, age 27. Mr. Hall stated he was drinking with his live-in
girlfriend when an argument erupted over their financial difficulties.
Mr. Hall had scratches around his neck but would not elaborate
as to how he sustained them, only saying that he had an argument
with his girlfriend and that she caused minor damage to his
trailer when she sped away in her vehicle. This case remains
open pending the outcome of an interview with Mr. Hall’s
girlfriend.

Parkersburg, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $588.90.
Kenneth E. Goff, age 48, 8 Sixth Street, Belpre,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines in the sum of $738.40.
Neal D. Groves, age 42, 1308 Williamson Avenue,
New Matamoras, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $1,275.95.
Aaron F. Haney, age 24, 7885 Dille Road, Chesterhill,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines in the sum of $573.63.
Allen Jones, age 63, 7632 Seventh Street,
Marietta, for breach of recognizance for failing to appear
for pretrial on 16 Oct 09.
Darin S. Miller, age 33, 29775 State Route
7, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $982.02.
Donald A. O’Brien, age 22, PO Box 22,
Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on
unpaid fines in the sum of $362.70.
Joseph M. Shuman, age 32, 85 Northwood Terrace,
Williamstown, for OVI, theft and for two counts of theft charged
on 27 Feb 09 and for theft of items from Wal-Mart on 9 Oct
09.
Gary E. Warne Jr., age 48, 53497 Lydia Road,
Coolville, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines in the sum of $1,072.83.
Thomas D. Joy, age 20, 1195 East Branch Road,
Lowell, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to appear for a scheduled appointment.
Ryan A. Hickel, age 23, 23971 Moyis Road,
Coolville, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to appear for a scheduled appointment.
Challis C. Howell, age 26, 18695 State Route
26, Reno, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to maintain contact with the probation department and for failing
to appear for a scheduled appointment.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Sue Ellen Bellville, age 53, 122 Tennis Center
Drive Apt. 25, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation,
a felony. Bellville was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Gault and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 29 Oct 09 at 9:10 am.
Ronald Scott Goddard, age 34, 221 Spring Street,
Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Goddard turned
himself in to Captain Ketelsen and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Oct 09 at 10:30 am.
Alexis Dawn Wood, age 20, 29055 State Route
7, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Wood was picked
up at the Ohio Reformatory for Women by Deputy Sheriff Malone
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct 09
at 3:25 pm.
Tytus Lamar Shields, age 21, 106 Riley Drive
Apt. 1, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Shields was arrested
on Front Street by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
29 Oct 09 at 7:10 pm.
Timothy James Newbrough, age 25, 1301 Murdoch
Avenue, Parkersburg, for theft and for failure to appear, both
misdemeanors. Newbrough was arrested at the Super 8 Motel by
Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct 09
at 7:15 pm.
Evan Jay Hughey, age 43, 43425 Hohman Road,
Caldwell, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Hughey was arrested in Macksburg by Deputy Sheriff McLeish
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct 09
at 7:30 pm.
