On 16 Oct 09 an employee of Poynter’s,
18607 State Route 7, Marietta, reported a white Ford cargo
van with Ohio license plate PDF513 was stolen from the business’ parking
lot. Parked next to where the van was last parked was a Chevy
S-10 that Deputy Sheriff Smeeks later determined was stolen
from Parkersburg the previous day. This case remains under
investigation.
On 16 Oct 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested
Thomas W. Hoff II, age 20, 116 Bel Aire Drive, Marietta, for
.02 underage breath OVI, possession of drugs and for possession
of drug paraphernalia. Stopped for having illegal window tint
on Interstate 77, Mr. Hoff had an odor of alcohol and performed
poorly on two out of four field sobriety tests. Following a
canine indication for the presence of drugs, Deputy Smeeks
searched Mr. Hoff’s vehicle and located two bags of marijuana
with a combined mass of thirty-eight grams and a digital scale
with marijuana residue on it. When transported to the Washington
County Jail Mr. Hoff tested .056 BAC.
On 16 Oct 09 Dinah L. Barker, age 50, 500
Whealdon Road, Cutler, reported a sign posted for her campaign
for township trustee was stolen from a yard on Whealdon Road
sometime that afternoon. This case remains under investigation
(594).
On 16 Oct 09 Crystal Sklenar, age 35, 351
Mechanic Street, Macksburg, reported while she napped between
2 and 3:30 pm she believes someone entered her home and stole
her recently filled prescriptions for Xanax and 800 mg ibuprofen
from her purse. This case remains under investigation (594).
On 16 Oct 09 Angela Dowler, age 45, 250 Ferncliff
Drive, Marietta, reported she was assaulted by her live-in
boyfriend. When Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrived, Ms. Dowler recanted
her allegation, saying it was a mistake for her to phone for
help and that she wasn’t assaulted. Unable to find evidence
indicative of a domestic dispute, Deputy Reeder closed this
case as unfounded.
On 16 Oct 09 Missy Martin, age 37, 16081 State
Route 550, Fleming, reported she was involved in a heated argument
with her husband. Investigating the allegation, Deputy Sheriff
Sheaves determined no threat or act of domestic violence occurred.
Mr. Martin agreed to spend the night with a friend in order
to avoid any potential problems.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mason Andrew Nelson, age 21, 540 King Avenue, Cutler, for
failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Nelson was arrested in Marietta
Municipal Court by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
16 Oct 09 at 9:00 am.
Thomas William Hoff, age 20, 116 Belaire Drive,
Marietta, for .02 underage breath OVI, possession of drugs
and for possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Hoff was arrested in Macksburg on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff
Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16
Oct 09 at 3:13 pm.
Mitchell Dean Needs, age 29, 2360 State Route 266, Stockport,
for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony. Needs was
picked up at the Belmont Correctional Institution for a shock
probation hearing by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 16 Oct 09 at 4:05 pm.
