On 4 Oct 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks located
a motorcycle in the woods near milepost eighteen on State Route
555 that had apparently been abandoned there for several weeks.
Checking the motorcycle’s VIN, Deputy Smeeks determined
it was reported stolen from Morgan County three weeks ago.
The case officer from Morgan County recovered the motorcycle
and towed it to his jurisdiction for evidentiary processing.
On 4 Oct 09 Jennifer Murrey, age 25, 157 Dickens
Drive Apt. 7, Mineral Wells, reported she traveled with her
roommate to 830 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, to pick up her roommate’s
children when she was attacked by one of the home’s residents,
Brenda K. Day, age 51. Ms. Murrey said she exited her vehicle
after Mrs. Day pulled her vehicle in the driveway behind her
and exited her vehicle. As she reached for her mobile phone
Ms. Murrey said Mrs. Day grabbed the phone and threw it into
the woods. Mrs. Day then slapped Ms. Murrey and as the two
fought, Mrs. Day allegedly removed a small handgun from her
sweater and struck Ms. Murrey in the face. Ms. Murrey stated
she then put her hands up and walked toward the house as Mrs.
Day ordered her to do so, reportedly while pointing the gun
at her back. Turning quickly, Ms. Murrey said she tackled Mrs.
Day to the ground and the two fought until Mrs. Day’s
son intervened. Though Mrs. Day denied being in possession
of any kind of weapon, a witness reported seeing Mrs. Day striking
Ms. Murray with a light colored handgun. As a result of the
incident, Deputy Sheriff Reeder requested a summons for Mrs.
Day for aggravated menacing and assault.
On 4 Oct 09 Lt. Stackpole issued a minor misdemeanor
citation to Kari Pugh, age 20, 220 Pennsylvania Avenue Apt.
2, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting. At the county
fair on 8 Sep 09, Ms. Pugh slapped her cousin in the face and
punched her in the arm after her cousin tricked her into riding
a ride she did not want to ride. Ms. Pugh said she accidentally
slapped her cousin when she tried to swat a bee away from her
face but denied punching her cousin in the arm.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Kayla Elizabeth Talbert, age 25, 3300 Finley Road, Malta,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. Talbert was arrested on State Route 60 by
Patrolman Hunter of the Beverly Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Oct 09 at 2:59 am.
Salvador Lopez Perez, age 27, 3824 Brent Road Apt. B, Raleigh,
NC, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding,
both misdemeanors. Perez was arrested on Interstate 77 by the
Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 4 Oct 09 at 10:56 pm.
