On 4 Oct 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks located a motorcycle in the woods near milepost eighteen on State Route 555 that had apparently been abandoned there for several weeks. The case officer from Morgan County recovered the motorcycle and towed it to his jurisdiction for evidentiary processing.

On 4 Oct 09 Jennifer Murrey, age 25, 157 Dickens Drive Apt. 7, Mineral Wells, reported she traveled with her roommate to 830 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, to pick up her roommate’s children when she was attacked by one of the home’s residents, Brenda K. Day, age 51. Ms. Murrey said she exited her vehicle after Mrs. Day pulled her vehicle in the driveway behind her and exited her vehicle. As she reached for her mobile phone Ms. Murrey said Mrs. Day grabbed the phone and threw it into the woods. Mrs. Day then slapped Ms. Murrey and as the two fought, Mrs. Day allegedly removed a small handgun from her sweater and struck Ms. Murrey in the face. Ms. Murrey stated she then put her hands up and walked toward the house as Mrs. Day ordered her to do so, reportedly while pointing the gun at her back. Turning quickly, Ms. Murrey said she tackled Mrs. Day to the ground and the two fought until Mrs. Day’s son intervened. Though Mrs. Day denied being in possession of any kind of weapon, a witness reported seeing Mrs. Day striking Ms. Murray with a light colored handgun. As a result of the incident, Deputy Sheriff Reeder requested a summons for Mrs. Day for aggravated menacing and assault.

On 4 Oct 09 Lt. Stackpole issued a minor misdemeanor citation to Kari Pugh, age 20, 220 Pennsylvania Avenue Apt. 2, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting.
