On 30 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Scott Taylor, age 25, 348 Grant Street, Middleport,
OH, for operating a vehicle with inoperable brake lights and
for having an expired registration. Deputy Mankins stopped
Mr. Taylor on Gravel Bank Road at the intersection of State
Route 7 in Warren Township.
On 30 Sep 09 Robert Yoho, age 72, 1037 Cave
Hill Road, Little Hocking, reported a 450 pound limousin calf
on his farm at 114 Wallace Road, Little Hocking, died that
morning and he believes the animal was shot with a small caliber
weapon. Deputy Sheriff Carr viewed the animal’s injury
but was unable to determine if it was in fact a bullet wound.
This case remains under investigation.
On 30 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Larry J. Welch, age 68, 861 Welch Road, Cutler,
for traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Mankins stopped
Mr. Welch on State Route 7 near Veto Road in Warren Township.
On 30 Sep 09 a witness reported an unknown
suspect entered the home of his mother Cecelia Wood, age 59,
at 1370 Way Road, Belpre. The witness said his mother is a
truck driver and is away for a week at a time and he periodically
feeds her cats and checks the residence. When he checked the
residence at 7:30 that evening he noticed a bathroom window
was removed. Ms. Wood’s son stated the only item appearing
to be missing is a Dish Network satellite receiver. This case
remains under investigation (592).
On 30 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested
a summons for a fifteen year old Marietta resident to appear
in Juvenile Court for being unruly. The teenager’s father
reported his daughter was out nearly four hours past the 7
pm curfew imposed by her probation officer and when she did
return home she refused to go to her room. An argument ensued
and the juvenile’s father said he had to force his daughter
into her room and shut the door.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Dwight D. Hart, age 23, PO Box 38B, West Union,
WV, for disorderly conduct by fighting on 13 Sep 09.
Douglas J. Seals, age 28, 309 S. 10th Street, McConnelsville,
for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear
for a scheduled appointment.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Justin Daniel Deems, age 29, 725 ½ Seventh Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony.
Deems was arrested on Fourth Street by Patrolman Chapman of
the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 30 Sep 09 at 12:36 am.
Andrew James Stump, age 25, 146 Rauch Drive, Marietta, for
possession of drugs, a felony. Stump was arrested on Marion
Street by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Sep 09
at 1:29 am.
Melody F. Hirsch, age 49, 4011 Terrace, North Augusta, SC,
for .17 breath OVI and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Hirsch
was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Sep 09
at 2:19 am.
Kenneth Allen Bay, age 21, 32 Kathys Lane,
Parkersburg, for a felony charge of aggravated trespassing
and for misdemeanor charges of failure to appear and breach
of recognize. Bay was picked up at the North Central Regional
Jail by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 30 Sep 09 at 10:45 am.
Philip Gene Covey, age 31, 26934 State Route 7, Marietta,
for carrying a concealed weapon and for resisting arrest, both
misdemeanors. Covey was arrested near Cole’s Tire by
Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 30 Sep 09
at 11:18 pm.
