On 15 Sep 09 a witness reported observing
a white male attempting to enter Byer’s Exxon, 38175
State Route 7, Newport, through the business’ drive through
window. The attempt was unsuccessful but did cause approximately
$500 in damage. This case remains under investigation (805).
On 15 Sep 09 Linda Donahue, age 65, 685
Stiers Road, Waterford, reported her son borrowed her vehicle
to purchase items at the store at 6:30 pm and as of 9:30 pm
he had yet to return. Ms. Donahue stated her son has taken
her vehicle for extended periods without permission previously
and always returned but she said this time she had a feeling
he was not coming back. This case remains under investigation
(608).
On 15 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Mayle arrested
Brandon M. Grandstaff, age 21, 570 Home Avenue, Martinsville,
IN, for possession of drug paraphernalia and for two counts
of possession of drugs. Stopping Mr. Grandstaff for following
another vehicle too closely on Interstate 77, Deputy Smeeks
deployed his canine while Deputy Mayle checked the identities
of the vehicle’s four occupants. Following a canine indication
for the presence of drugs, Deputies Mayle and Smeeks searched
the vehicle and discovered a cloth bag containing marijuana,
a marijuana pipe, digital scales and fourteen pills of the
Schedule III drug Lortab. None of the passengers claimed ownership
of the contraband, therefore Mr. Grandstaff as the vehicle’s
owner was held responsible for possession of the items.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jose Jesus Garcia, age 28, 5617 Helmont Place,
Oxon Hill, MD, for operating a vehicle without a license and
for operating a vehicle with an inoperable license plate light,
both misdemeanors. Garcia was arrested on US 50 by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 15 Sep 09 at 4:45 am.
Mark Aaron McIntyre, age 27, 223 Broughton
Avenue, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. McIntyre
turned himself in to Detective Smithberger of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 15 Sep 09 at 1:05 pm.
Dustin Lee Fellure, age 25, 34 Left Fork Road, Bidwell, OH,
for two felony counts of theft and for misdemeanor charges
of operating a vehicle without a license and failure to appear.
Fellure was picked up in Gallia County by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 09
at 1:11 pm.
Brandon M. Grandstaff, age 21, 570 Home Avenue, Martinsville,

on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Mayle and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 09 at 5:00 pm.
