On 13 Sep 09 a fifteen year old Lowell resident
reported he was hunting on a friend’s property in Lowell
when a hunter on a neighboring property intentionally pointed
a weapon at him. The juvenile was confronted for allegedly
hunting on a property adjacent to that on which he had permission
to hunt. The other involved party however said the juvenile
crossed a fence onto the adjoining property and stated he never
pointed his weapon at the teenager. This case remains under
investigation (790).
On 13 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Carr responded
to a domestic dispute involving Margie Smithberger, age 53,
106 Oak Grove Lane, Marietta, and her daughter Melissa Sterling,
age 24. Stemming from Ms. Sterling’s desire to have a
male spend the night in her room, both women were combative
toward each other. During the fray Ms. Suffered scratch marks
to her back and neck and Ms. Smithberger received a black eye.
Citing equal involvement of both parties, Deputy Carr arrested
Ms. Smithberger and Ms. Sterling both for domestic violence
and transported them to the Washington County Jail.
On 13 Sep 09 Lt. Wilson responded to the intersection
of Seventh and Greene streets to assist the Ohio State Highway
Patrol during a traffic stop. A passenger in a vehicle whose
driver was being arrested for OVI, James D. Johnson, age 42,
200 Colegate Drive, Marietta, was yelling at the Trooper and
would not obey orders to stop interfering with the arrest.
Appearing intoxicated, Mr. Johnson quickly pulled away from
Lt. Wilson when he was informed he was under arrest and only
complied when Lt. Wilson utilized his Taser on him. Consequently,
Lt. Wilson charged Mr. Johnson with resisting arrest. Johnson
was transported to the Washington County Jail by the Highway
Patrol and also charged by the Trooper with obstructing official
business.
On 13 Sep 09 Jamie Lupardus, age 28, 60 Silver
Globe Road, Marietta, reported her live-in boyfriend Bill Ball,
age 35, assaulted her and her friend. Ms. Lupardus said Mr.
Ball had been drinking all night, had possibly taken a prescription
painkiller and was highly agitated following Ohio State’s
loss against USC. Asked to stop complaining about the football
game, Mr. Ball grabbed his pregnant girlfriend’s left
cheek and pushed her to the floor. Ms. Lupardus left the home
and returned later with a friend, Rachel Paulisin, age 26,
4427 12th Avenue, Parkersburg, at which time Ms. Lupardus told
Mr. Ball to sleep on a couch. Infuriated, Mr. Ball struck Ms.
Lupardus in the head with a Maglite and kicked her down a flight
of stairs. Mr. Ball then picked up a three foot wooden board
and chased Ms. Paulisin and Ms. Paulisin’s seven year
old daughter out of the residence. Based on his investigation
Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Mr. Ball for a felony charge of
domestic violence and a misdemeanor charge of assault and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 13 Sep 09 Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested
summonses for Dwight D. Hart, age 23, PO Box 38B, West Union,
WV, and Shandi R. Fisk, age 27, 312 Broad Street, Macksburg,
for disorderly conduct by fighting. Both subjects were highly
intoxicated when they arrived at Ms. Fisk’s residence
at 5 am and were combative toward each other. Deputy Anderson
received contradictory statements from Ms. Fisk and Mr. Hart
and determined both parties were equally culpable.
On 13 Velma Joy, age 53, 135 Maple Street,
Newport, reported she believes a family member took her 1995
GMC truck without permission. Ms. Joy said the family had permission
to drive the truck to a residence on State Route 26 to get
repaired on 11 Sep but were not permitted to drive it otherwise.
The vehicle was recovered on 12 Sep after it was involved in
a crash on Stanleyville Road around 7:30 am. This case remains
under investigation (610).
On 13 Sep 09 the Barlow emergency squad transported
a twenty-four year old Vincent resident to Marietta Memorial
Hospital for treatment of self-inflicted superficial cuts to
her wrist. The wounds, which the victim inflicted with broken
glass, were not deemed serious (592).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Richard Henry Haught, age 49, 513 Smith Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his parole, a misdemeanor. Haught
was arrested in Marietta by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 1:00 am.
Bill Martin Ball, age 35, 60 Silver Globe Road, Marietta,
for domestic violence and assault, both misdemeanors. Ball
was arrested at his residence by Lt. Wilson of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 1:40 am.
Edward Eugene Murphy Jr., age 28, 217 Sixth Street, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Murphy was arrested on
Meigs Street by Patrolman Wright of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
13 Sep 09 at 1:40 am.
James Dean Johnson, age 42, 200 Colegate Drive, Marietta,
for obstructing official business and for resisting arrest,
both misdemeanors. Johnson was arrested in Marietta by the
Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 3:15 am.
Elizabeth Ann Johnson, age 35, 200 Colegate Drive, Marietta,
for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel,
both misdemeanors. Johnson was arrested in Marietta by the
Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 4:05 am.
Margie Ruth Smithberger, age 53, 106 Oak Grove Avenue, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Smithberger was arrested
at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 6:39 am.
Melissa Jo Ann Sterling, age 24, 106 Oak Grove Lane, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Sterling was arrested
at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 7:47 am.
Steven Jeffrey McGee, age 37, 116 Grove Street, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. McGee was arrested at
his residence by Patrolman Heddleston of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 13 Sep 09 at 6:55 pm.
