On 31 Aug 09 Sgt. Norman and Deputy Sheriff
Sheaves responded to the scene of death of a sixty-six year
old Marietta resident. The man’s death appears to be
due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.
On 31 Aug 09 Michael Spence, age 41, 652 Anderson
Road, Fleming, reported he checked his digital camera he placed
on a friend’s property on the 1000 block of Anderson
Road on 24 Aug and when he returned to check the camera the
following day it was missing. Mr. Spence stated a video card
from a camera he placed on another friend’s property
across the street was stolen as well. This case remains under
investigation (1104).
On 31 Aug 09 the manager of Midway Machining
Inc., 1060 Gravel Bank Road, Marietta, reported sometime over
the weekend an unknown suspect(s) stole several large pieces
of scrap metal from a storage bin located behind the business.
The manager said approximately 3,500 pounds of metal worth
$300 was taken. This case remains under investigation (1104).
On 31 Aug 09 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio arrested
a sixteen year old Whipple resident on charges of delinquency
by domestic violence, resisting arrest and underage consumption
of alcohol. The juvenile’s mother said her son had friends
at their residence and that they were drinking beer. When she
told her son to ask his friends to leave because it was a school
night the teenager grew irate and began shouting at her. The
mother said she cannot control her son and that he puts his
hands on her on a daily basis. That evening the mother said
her son then grabbed her by the neck and arms and left bruises
before fleeing from the home. As he absconded, the juvenile
ignored commands from the responding Deputies to stop and was
apprehended after he fell into a nearby creek. Taken into custody,
the teenager admitted consuming several beers and had a can
of Busch Light in his pocket. After being cleared by Marietta
Memorial Hospital with BAC of .140, the juvenile was transported
to the Washington County Juvenile Center.

Gary Edward Warne Jr., age 48, 53421 Lydia
Road, Coolville, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Warne was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 10:55 am.
Todd Daniel Weddle, age 40, 100 Cisler Lane Apt. C6, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Weddle
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 11:15
am.
Christina Kay Boles, age 39, 56550 Vocational Road, Buffalo,
OH, for two misdemeanor counts of criminal simulation. Boles
was picked up at the Belmont County Jail by Deputy Sheriff
Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on
31 Aug 09 at 12:25 pm.
Keith Allen Drake, age 22, 833 Ridge Street, Marietta, for
criminal damaging and for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Drake was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 1:15 pm.
David Wayne Cuthbertson, age 49, 430 Bennett Lane, Beverly,
for failure to appear in a civil case. Cuthbertson turned himself
in to Deputy Sheriff Reeder and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 1:40 pm.
Cory Everett Meeks, age 24, 612 Lancaster Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Meeks was
picked up at SEPTA by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 3:55 pm.
Glenn Roger Johnson, age 22, 116 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for theft, a felony. Johnson was arrested on Harmar Street
by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 09
at 9:04 pm.
Vanessa Lynn Patterson, age 35, 2443 Ashland Avenue, Chicago,
IL, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding,
both misdemeanors. Patterson was arrested on Interstate 77
by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 31 Aug 09 at 11:56 pm.
