On 11 Aug 09 a security officer at Globe Metallurgical,
1595 Sparling Road, Waterford, reported a male subject driving
a silver Subaru took several pictures of the business from
various locations. The security officer said the subject did
not attempt to enter the gated area around the business but
left every time he approached the subject. Unable to find evidence
of wrongdoing, Deputy Sheriff Carr closed this case as unfounded.
On 11 Aug 09 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested
a summons for Laura Seckman, age 18, 298 Regal Drive, Vienna,
for theft. Deputy Carr’s affidavit alleges Ms. Seckman
took a cat that belonged to a resident who lives next door
to Byer’s Exxon in Newport on 30 Jul 09 and turned the
cat into the Humane Society.
On 11 Aug 09 Paul L. Terrell, age 64, 2460
Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, reported sometime between 30 Jun
09 and 8 Jul 09 an unknown suspect(s) entered his home and
stole several bottles of his prescription medication and a
small bag of change. Mr. Terrell said he did not report the
theft at the time of the incident and only did no now because
he determined the bag of change was also stolen. This case
remains under investigation (707).
On 11 Aug 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Ralph E. Dains, age 19, 4945 School House Road, Little Hocking,
for OVI and for driving left of center. Stopping Mr. Dains
near milepost eight on State Route 26, Deputy Mankins noticed
an odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. Mr. Dains admitted
consuming alcohol that evening and performed poorly on the
subsequently administered field sobriety tests. When transported
to the Washington County Jail Mr. Dains tested .08 BAC.

Office received the following warrants:
Ryan D. McFann, age 24, 105 State Route 555
Apt. 5, Little Hocking, for violating the terms of his probation
by failing to make regular fine payments.
Russell O’Dell Jr., age 43, 1308 Williamson Avenue,
New Matamoras, for violating the terms of his probation by
failing to complete a condition of a Driving Under Suspension
Intervention Program.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Brandin Drew McCoy, age 23, 210 Fifth Street,
Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. McCoy turned
himself in to Patrolman McCracken at the Marietta City Police
Department and was processed into the Washington County Jail
on 11 Aug 09 at 8:55 am.
Kevin Wayne Lott, age 38, 4418 11th Avenue, Parkersburg, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Lott was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 9:20
am.
David J. Smearman III, age 22, 111 Montgomery Street Apt.
10, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Smearman
turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff Carr and was processed
into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 10:20 am.
Jamie Lane Allen, age 32, 5009 Factory Road, Athens, for operating
a vehicle with expired registration and for speeding, both
misdemeanors. Allen was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Augenstein
of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 11:30 am.
Christy Lynn Smith, age 26, 401 Third Street, Macksburg, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested at her residence by Deputy
Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 11 Aug 09 at 1:00 pm.
Scott Alan Hines, age 45, 271 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, for
trafficking in drugs and for possession of drugs, both felonies.
Hines was picked up at the Corrections Reception Center and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 2:55
pm.
Samuel Adam Bruce, age 19, 219 Virginia Street, Marietta,
for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Bruce
was arrested at his residence by Detective Nohe of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 4:50 pm.
Sonya Denise Coe, age 46, Veto Road, Vincent, for contempt
of a court order, a misdemeanor. Coe turned herself in to Corrections
Officer Arnold and was processed into the Washington County
Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 6:09 pm.
Ralph Edward Dains, age 19, 4945 School House Road, Little
Hocking, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Dains was arrested on State
Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 11 Aug 09 at 8:30 pm.
