On 24 Jul 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested
Jesse N. Wright Jr., age 29, 1406 Gihon Road Lot 18, Parkersburg,
for driving under license suspended for having unpaid citations
and for operating a vehicle with license plated that expired
in December 2008. Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Wright on US 50
near State Route 555 in Belpre Township.
On 24 Jul 09 Deputy Sheriff Holbert responded
to the scene of a domestic dispute at 1841 Sandhill Road, Marietta.
Questioned regarding the incident, Lindsey L. Adams, age 20,
stated she was involved in a verbal argument with her live-in
boyfriend Troy E. Lightfritz, age 22, that escalated into a
physical altercation. During the fray Ms. Adams said Mr. Lightfritz
punched her in the face and kicked her in the leg and that
she punched him in the nose in retaliation. Contacted at another
residence, Mr. Lightfritz appeared highly intoxicated and refused
to provide a statement. Determining the incident did not meet
the criteria for domestic violence, Deputy Holbert requested
summonses for Ms. Adams and Mr. Lightfritz for disorderly conduct
by fighting.
On 24 Jul 09 Linda Bradley, age 56, 13140
County Nine Road, New Matamoras, reported she often allows
a friend to borrow her truck but that afternoon the friend
took her vehicle without permission. The truck was later towed
after Ms. Bradley’s friend slid off the roadway and into
a ditch. This case remains under investigation (805).
TWO ARRESTED, $50,000 WORTH
OF COCAINE SEIZED
At 5:00 pm on July 24, 2009, Agents with the
Major Crimes Task Force utilized an undercover operative to
purchase 246 grams (8.68 ounces) of cocaine for $14,000 from
Jeffrey Cottrell, age 36, 12005 Oakland Avenue, Cleveland,
and Lester J. Taylor, age 46, 2805 McCurdy Avenue, Cleveland.
The controlled drug purchase took place at the Adult Mart near
exit sixteen on Interstate 77. Following the transaction the
Uniformed Division of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office stopped and arrested the suspects on Interstate 77.
The seized cocaine has a street value of approximately $50,000.
Both individuals have been charged with trafficking
in cocaine, a second degree felony. Cottrell and Taylor are
incarcerated in the Washington County Jail in lieu of bond
pending their appearance in Marietta Municipal Court on July
27, 2009.
THIRD ARREST OF JUSTIN SIMPSON
RELATED TO CRACK COCAINE
Out on bond from two prior felony arrests
related to the manufacturing and trafficking of crack cocaine,
Justin A. Simpson, age 20, Columbus, OH was arrested yet again
for trafficking in crack cocaine. Previously arrested in March
and June of this year on crack cocaine charges, Simpson took
part in a transaction along with Tytus Shields and sold a confidential
informant 7.87 grams of crack cocaine. The controlled purchase,
which took place at 833 Second Street Lot 4, Marietta, on 8
Jun 09, transpired in the presence of a child who could be
heard asking the informant if he wanted to play while he was
at the residence.
Simpson was present outside of the trailer
at 833 Second Street Lot 4, Marietta, when law enforcement
officers arrived to execute a search warrant on 22 Jun 09.
Observing the arrival of law enforcement, Simpson absconded
and was not located and arrested until around 10 am this morning.
Simpson is incarcerated in the Washington County Jail on a
second degree felony charge of trafficking in crack cocaine
in the vicinity of a minor. Being held without bond, Simpson’s
initial court appearance is at 1 pm this afternoon.
ROBBERY SUSPECT IDENTIFIED,
WARRANTS REQUESTED
Subsequent to the completion of interviews
related to the two robberies committed yesterday morning, Detectives
today requested warrants for Anthony Ray Nichols II, age 27,
last known address 9255 State Route 377, Chesterhill, for two
counts of robbery. Observed by authorities in Morgan County
last night operating the vehicle used in the robberies, Nichols
led police on a high speed chase before wrecking and abandoning
the vehicle. Nichols fled into a wooded area off of Sweat Road
in Morgan County and his current whereabouts are unknown. Nichols
has a criminal history of escape and fleeing and eluding and
is considered dangerous. The Sheriff’s Office requests
citizens with knowledge of Nichols’ location to phone
their local law enforcement office or the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office immediately.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Justin Alexzander Simpson, age 20, Marietta,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Simpson was arrested on
Front Street in Marietta by Detective Parks of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 24 Jul 09 at 10:30 am.
Ricky David Terrell, age 41, 112 Maple Street, Marietta, for
being in possession of an open container of alcohol and for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
both misdemeanors. Terrell was arrested on Wooster Street in
Marietta by Lt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24
Jul 09 at 10:35 am.
Crystal Dawn Seevers, age 25, 225 Masonic Park Lane, Marietta,
for violating the terms of her parole, a felony. Seevers was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Gilchrist and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 09 at 11:30 am.
Jeffery Cottrell, age 36, 12005 Oakland Avenue, Cleveland,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Cottrell was arrested near
milepost seventeen on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Anderson
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 09
at 5:55 pm.
Lester Jerome Taylor, age 46, 2805 McCurdy Street, Cleveland,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Taylor was arrested near
milepost seventeen on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 09
at 6:00 pm.

on State Route 555 near US 50 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and
