On 23 Jul 09 William Lauer, age 70, 15767 State Route 555, Bartlett, reported he last saw his prescription bottles of Ativan and Vicodin when he took his pills that morning and he could not find the medications when he was about to take them before going to bed. Phoning later to say he located the medication, Mr. Lauer said he forgot the location of his medicine while deliverymen set up a new bed in his bedroom (790, 953).

On 23 Jul 09 David Everson, age 47, 780 Tadpole Run Road, Newport, reported while he was away from his home camping between 19 Jul and 23 Jul an unknown suspect(s) entered his home and garage. Inside the garage, Mr. Everson said the suspect(s) stole a weed eater, spray painted two of his vehicles and poured brake fluid on a truck. Entering Mr. Everson’s residence through a window, the suspect(s) ransacked the home and stole two bottles of medication, over $2,000 in cash, a handgun and approximately $250 in state quarters. This case remains under investigation (296).

SEARCH WARRANTS EXECUTED, DRUG SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Subsequent to controlled purchases of crack cocaine conducted by the Major Crimes Task Force over the past several months, personnel from the Marietta Police Department, Task Force, Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed two search warrants on 22 Jul 09. One search warrant, executed at 833 Second Street Apt. 2, Marietta, was the result of the controlled purchase of 7.87 grams of crack cocaine from Tytus L. Shields, age 21, on 8 Jun 09. Following the search warrant Detectives arrested Mr. Shields for a second degree felony charge of trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a minor.

The second search warrant was executed at 833 Second Street Lot 4, Marietta, and relates directly to the execution of the search warrant and succeeding arrest of Tytus Shields. In the residence at the time of the second search warrant, Stephanie L. Wright, age 24, 125 Millers Lane Apt. C4, Marietta, attempted to flush a plastic bag down the toilet. Recovering the bag before it disappeared; Detectives later determined the bag contained fifty-eight ecstasy pills and thirty-two grams of crack cocaine. Also present was the trailer’s resident, Mindy L. Science, age 30. Ms. Science is a target of the Task Force and sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant at Southgate Trailer Park on 23 Mar 09. At the search warrant’s conclusion, Detectives arrested Ms. Wright for a third degree felony charge of tampering with evidence and Ms. Science for a fourth degree felony charge of trafficking in cocaine in the vicinity of a minor.

This morning Detectives located and arrested Julie A. Hupp, age 32, 27400 State Route 7 Lot 50, Marietta. Hupp, who was also identified as a drug supplier related to the arrests of Shields, Wright and Science, sold 6.1 grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant at an apartment at 125 Millers Lane on 21 Jan 09. Hupp is charged with a third degree felony count of trafficking in crack cocaine. Of note, Hupp was previously arrested in March of 2008 as part of a group selling crack cocaine that was dyed green for Saint Patrick’s Day.

Seized during the search warrants as the alleged product of drug sales was $1,200 in cash. Shields, Science, Wright, and Hupp are incarcerated in the Washington County Jail without bond pending their initial court appearance this afternoon. Additional arrests relating to this cadre of drug traffickers are anticipated.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Beldon T. Bailey, age 31, 1201 Wyatt Lane Apt. C, Belpre, for an assault committed on 8 Mar 09 and for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for arraignment on 6 Jul 09.

Jesse Cain, age 25, last known address 2205 Murray Street, Belpre, for disrupting public service, for the theft of a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim and for the theft of a purse from a residence in Belpre on 8 Jul 09.

Donald E. Sharp, age 29, 5285 Buchanan Road, Waterford, for OVI, driving under a suspended license, speeding and for operating a vehicle with fictitious registration on 17 Jun 09 and for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for arraignment on 17 Jul 09.

Frederick G. McKitrick, age 27, 3010 Burnett Road, Cutler, for failing to appear to serve ten days in jail on 10 Jul 09.

John D. Gilchrist, age 29, 127 Greene Street Apt. B, Newport, for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for pretrial on 20 Jul 09.

Eric B. Siders, age 20, 4650 Sandhill Road, Marietta, for failing to appear to serve twenty days in jail on 13 Jul 09.

Nikki L. Vanfossen, age 24, 1304 Myrtle Street, Parkersburg, for contempt for failing to pay fines and for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for arraignment on 8 Jul 09.

The following individual wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:

Julie Ann Hupp, age 32, 715 Wayne Street, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Hupp was arrested at the courthouse by Detective Smithberger of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 09 at 9:15 am.
