On 8 Jul 09 a thirty-two year old Marietta
resident reported her seventeen year old stepdaughter left
for a walk at 8 pm on 7 Jul and the juvenile has yet to return
home. The complainant stated the teenager customarily walks
in the evenings but may have disappeared because she was involved
in an argument with her father earlier in the day. While Deputy
Sheriff Travaglio requested a summons for teenager for being
unruly, the search for her whereabouts continues. The teenager
is 5’ 5” 210 pounds has blondish brown hair and
was last seen wearing a Newport Trojans t-shirt.
On 8 Jul 09 Elda M. Carpenter, age 67, 2205
Murray Street, Belpre, reported her son in law Jesse Cain,
age 25, flew off the handle when she confronted him about her
missing Xanax pills the previous evening. Ms. Carpenter said
her daughter and Mr. Cain began living at her home for the
past month and when she questioned Mr. Cain about the pills
he went outside the home and cut the television cable line.
In another part of the home, Ms. Carpenter said Mr. Cain ripped
a cable completely apart. When she awoke the morning of 8 Jul,
Ms. Carpenter said her daughter and Mr. Cain were both gone
and they took her 1992 Plymouth Acclaim along with her purse
and its contents. In consequence to the events thus far, Deputy
Sheriff Anderson requested a warrant for Mr. Cain for a felony
charge of disrupting public services. Additional charges pertaining
to the theft of Ms. Carpenter’s vehicle may be filed
upon the apprehension of Mr. Cain and his wife.
On 8 Jul 09 Sgt. Underwood, Deputy Sheriff
Anderson and the Belpre and Little Hocking fire departments
responded to a structure fire at the home of Debra S. Thomas,
age 49, at 115 Pine Drive, Little Hocking. Fully engulfed in
flames when emergency personnel arrived, the home is a total
loss. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified and
will conduct an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
On 8 Jul 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins stopped
the riders of two ATVs operating an ATV without brake lights
in the vicinity of 8780 State Route 26 in Lawrence Township.
As a result of the stop Deputy Mankins issued citations to
James D. Roton, age 42, 406 Dodge Avenue, Williamstown, and
Kevin C. Nolan, age 41, 8780 State Route 26, Marietta, for
operating unsafe vehicles. Additionally, Deputy Mankins cited
Mr. Roton for operating a vehicle without a license and Mr.
Nolan for driving under an FRA suspended license.
On 8 Jul 09 Detective Schuck issued a citation
to John J. Stone, age 28, 5359 Waterford Road, Marietta, for
driving under a suspended license. Detective Schuck stopped
Mr. Stone near the intersection of Fourth and Scammel streets
in Pioneer Township.
The following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Anthony James Roton, age 22, 406 Dodge Avenue,
Williamstown, for criminal damaging, a misdemeanor. Roton turned
himself in to Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 09 at 12:16 pm.
Scott Alan Hines, age 45, 271 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, for
trafficking in drugs, a felony. Hines was picked up at the
Corrections Reception Center by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 09 at
12:59 pm.
Timothy Jack Kennedy, age 21, 1209 Moore Street, Akron, for
attempted theft and for possession of criminal tools, both
felonies. Kennedy was picked up in Summit County by Deputy
Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 8 Jul 09 at 5:20 pm.
Jeffrey Alan Theiss, age 31, 27130 State Route 7, Marietta,
for nonsupport of dependants and for failure to appear at a
court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Theis
was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 8 Jul 09 at 7:00 pm.
Wilbert Martin, age 48, 5954 Attaway Road, Shreveport, LA,
a fugitive from justice, a felony. Martin was arrested on Interstate
77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 09 at 11:09 pm.
