On 5 Jul 09 Gary D. Beagle, age 48, 412 Main Street, New Matamoras, reported he was at Main Street Pizza in New Matamoras when Wilber O. Dunn III, age 23, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt. 4B, New Matamoras, shot a bottle rocket at him. Mr. Beagle said the bottle rocket exploded on his left arm and Mr. Dunn proceeded to sucker punch him when he asked him what his problem was. Struck four or five times before a bystander pulled Mr. Dunn off him, Mr. Beagle lost four teeth as a result of the attack. Unable to locate the assailant, Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a summons for Mr. Dunn for assault.

On 5 Jul 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Terry L. Bailey, age 18, 67984 State Route 124, Reedsville, OH, for possession of the Schedule III drug Vicodin. Stopping the vehicle on State Route 7 near State Route 555 for having illegal window tint, Deputy Smeeks noticed an odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle and noticed four pills on the floorboard. A canine indication for the presence of drugs in the vehicle prompted a search of the vehicle that resulted in the discovery of a cigarette pack containing seven Vicodin pills under the seat Mr. Bailey occupied.

On 5 Jul 09 Dorothy Smith, age 40, 1024 Pike Street, Marietta, reported she was drinking with her live-in boyfriend Gary Harbison, age 41, when an argument erupted over one of her former boyfriends. During the incident, Ms. Smith said Mr. Harbison threw her to the floor in their bedroom and choked her. Stopping when Ms. Smith said she wouldn’t phone for help, Mr. Harbison proceeded to throw and destroy items in the home. Absent from the scene while Sgt. Johnson and Deputy Sheriff Lockhart conducted an investigation, Mr. Harbison returned to the home as the Deputies were about to depart. As Sgt. Johnson arrested Mr. Harbison for domestic violence, Harbison said “wait ‘til I get out, you’ve had it.” Mr. Harbison was unapologetic and continued to denigrate Ms. Smith as he was transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 5 Jul 09 an employee of Family Dollar, 10340 State Route 550, Barlow, reported she long had suspicions of a customer shoplifting but was never able to catch her in the act. The employee said when she saw Faith A. Wilson, age 28, 6169 State Route 550, Cutler, enter the store this time, she surreptitiously monitored her as she shopped. Watching Ms. Wilson remove a pair of shorts from a hanger and placing them in her purse, the employee said Ms. Wilson went through the checkout line to pay for another item. Confronted about the shorts she allegedly stole, Ms. Wilson refused to open her purse and left the store, saying she will never be back. Based on his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested a summons for Ms. Wilson for theft. The value of the stolen shorts is $3.90.
