On 30 Jun 09 the Little Hocking Fire Department
transported a six year old Washington, WV resident to Camden
Clark Hospital for treatment to injuries suffered when he fell
from a golf cart at Oxbow Golf Course. The child’s parents
were sitting in the front of the golf cart while the boy and
his brother stood and rode on the back of it. Taking a shortcut
between two cart paths, the cart’s back tires slid on
damp grass, causing the cart to turn sideways. The child fell
from the cart and the rear tires ran over his legs. The boy
is being treated for a possible broken leg and for facial lacerations
(592).
On 30 Jun 09 Ronald D. Hoyt, age 55, 124 Federal
Road, Little Hocking, reported he purchased a vehicle from
a private party in August 2007 and despite his repeated requests
the seller has yet to provide him with the title. This case
remains under investigation (953).
On 30 Jun 09 Patricia A. Reeder, age 55, 34155
State Route 7, Newport, reported she wrote a check for $1,500
to an individual who offered to pave her driveway around noon
the previous day. Ms. Reeder said five individuals in two black,
nondescript trucks appeared and sprayed what appeared to be
tar on her driveway, claiming the substance would expand to
a thickness of two or three inches. The sprayed substance did
not expand and Ms. Reeder was unable to stop payment on her
check. This case remains under investigation (296).
TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN ARRESTS
FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
Following a vehicle traveling southbound on
State Route 7 on 30 Jun 09, Deputy Sheriff Anderson observed
the driver of the vehicle turn sharply onto Joe Skinner Road,
swerving into the grass and back onto the roadway. A check
of the vehicle’s registration revealed active warrants
for the owner, Natasha M. Treadway, age 20, 114 Main Street,
Shelby, OH. Stopping the vehicle, Deputy Anderson discovered
the driver Rodrick D. Pettis, age 20, 1124 Stadium Drive, Parkersburg,
also had active warrants for his arrest.
The active warrants for both Pettis and Treadway
stem from controlled purchases of crack cocaine the Major Crimes
Task Force conducted on 15 May and 16 May 09. At Kroger and
then at Wal-Mart, a confidential informant purchased two grams
of crack cocaine from Pettis on successive days for $250 and
$200. During the first transaction, Treadway handed the crack
cocaine to Pettis which Pettis then proffered to the confidential
informant. The warrant for Treadway’s involvement in
the second transaction results from the fact that Task Force
Detectives observed Treadway driving Pettis to Wal-Mart to
sell the crack cocaine to the informant.
Pettis is incarcerated on a third degree felony
charge of trafficking in crack cocaine in the vicinity of a
juvenile and on a fourth degree felony charge of trafficking
in cocaine. Similarly, Treadway is incarcerated on a third
degree felony charge of complicity in trafficking in crack
cocaine in the vicinity of a juvenile and on a fourth degree
felony charge of trafficking in cocaine. Both suspects are
being held without bond pending their initial appearance in
Marietta Municipal Court.
